Frank J. Mariani

Mr. Frank J. Mariani, age 58, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on November 7, 1948, Frank was the son of the late Andrew and Susan (Napoli) Mariani. Raised and educated locally, he was a 1967 graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran, Frank served his country during the Vietnam War as a U.S. Marine. On July 24, 1970, he entered into a blessed union with the former Susan J. Ancone with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. A loving “Mr. Mom”, Frank’s whole life centered around his family and providing for their well being. With an open mind and heart, he was always accepting, non-judgmental, and easy going. He was an excellent listener who put everyone else’s needs before his own. Knowledgeable in many areas, he was a skilled conversationalist. He was so proud of his grandchildren, and indeed, the highlight of his life was being a grandfather. Ever patriotic, he was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. For recreation, he enjoyed fishing on Oneida Lake with his family, solving crossword puzzles, and playing cards. He was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. Frank is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters and son-in-law, Andrea Rutledge of Utica, and Melissa and Edward Kowalsky of New Hartford; his sons and daughter-in-law, Frank Robert Mariani and fiancée Semira Muheljic of Utica, and Steven and Evelyn Mariani of Utica; his grandchildren, William Keiser V, Drew Keiser, and Nathan Mariani; and his mother-in-law, Frances Ancone. Also surviving is his brother and sister-in-law, James T. and Barbara Mariani of Sauquoit, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and his in-laws, Judy and Timothy Collins of Mebane, NC, Joseph Jr. and Joanne (Marshone) Ancone of N. Syracuse, and Dr. Leonard and Theresa (Wameling) Ancone of Jamesville. He was predeceased by a very special uncle, Albert Napoli. Visitation will be held on Monday (today) from 4:00 – 7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Frank’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
