Frank F. Talerico

Mr. Frank F. Talerico, age 93, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, May 08, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with his family by his side. Born in Utica on March 3, 1915, Frank was the son of the late Dominick and Anna (Talarico) Talerico. He was raised and educated in Utica and attended Utica Free Academy. On June 1, 1940 he married the former Jane N. Trotta with whom he shared 67 years. Frank was a good provider during their life together and they complemented each other’s personality. During his working life, Frank held various positions. He worked for Kenwell Sporting Goods Co, was a co-owner of Rafra Sporting Goods Manufacturing Co. in Utica, and he retired from the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. Many would remember him for the skill and knowledge he possessed for repairing sporting goods, especially baseball gloves. His love of sports was a source of pride to him, but he especially cherished the relationship he established with the youth of the area throughout the years. He appreciated all sports, but he favored baseball and was a faithful Yankees fan. Frank was a clever craftsman and an ingenious man, and he could fix anything with a meticulous style. He was also a gentle and graceful man who loved his family and was respected for being such a fine example of a good family man. He was a former member of the East Side Senior Center and he was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church. Frank is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughter and son-in-law, Carolee and Ernest Swald of Whitesboro; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Talerico of Clinton, Frank M. and April Talerico of Kissimmee, FL, and Steven and Donna Talerico of NJ; his grandchildren, Melissa and Peter Camman, Beth Swald and Rich Nagashima, Kathy and David Lupia; Rob and Joe Talerico; Gina Talerico; Dominique and Freddy Candelario; and Sam Talerico; and he was especially proud of his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, and Nicolas. Survivors also include his brothers and sister-in-law, Ernest Talerico, Thomas and Lucy Talerico, and Jessie Talerico, all of Utica; many devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Anthony and Olive Trotta. He was also blessed with many friendships throughout the years. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Angela Santino, Antoinette J. Talerico, Peter "Andrew" Talerico, Joseph “Jersey” Talerico, Dominick Talerico, and Sam Talerico; and also remembering the deceased members of his wife’s family. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. James O’Malley for his care and kindness throughout the years, the staffs of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, the Presbyterian Home fo r CNY, and all the caregivers who gave of themselves while attending to Frank’s needs; Msgr. Francis Willenburg for his prayers and concern; and a special thank-you is offered to Frank Pape, his longtime neighbor who has been outstanding and helpful. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Frank’s funeral service will commence on Monday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
