Frank A. Cosamano, Sr.

Mr. Frank A. Cosamano, Sr., age 86, formerly of Summerset Way, Deerfield, and most recently of Mallory Road, Marcy, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with his family by his side. Born in Frankfort, NY on February 13, 1920, Frank was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Salamone) Cosamano. He was raised and educated in Frankfort, and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations. On June 16, 1942 he married the former Rose A. Sardina, and celebrated 42 wonderful years together until her passing on March 28, 1985. Compatible and well-suited to each other, they were a wonderful couple. Their greatest joys came from their children and their family life. Mr. Cosamano enjoyed his vocation as a truck driver, and his long time career at the Utica Carting Co. Frank took pride in his membership with the Teamsters Local 182. A gentle man with a great sense of humor, Frank was a respected father, and a loving provider for his family. He was blessed with a patient nature, especially when it came to his children, and they cherish memories of a wholesome upbringing, instilled with values of great worth. They adored their father and are so grateful for the wonderful guidance he provided. As a sociable and outgoing man, he was fond of the daily company of family visitors, and he loved holiday celebrations, especially the Italian traditions of the Christmas season, complete with fine food and spirits. Frank was also a respected friend, and enjoyed gathering with his lifelong friends for ‘Sunday school’ at Western Auto in Frankfort. A sportsman at heart, he was a #1 Yankees fan, and also followed football and boxing. In his leisure time, he favored games of chance, the casino, and dog races. He was loyal to his memberships in the American Legion, Frankfort Post #845. He was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. Mr. Cosamano is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Wayne Ernst of Amsterdam, NY, Lucy and Herb Diabo of Naples, FL, Toni and David Gnatek of Marcy, NY, and Mary Ann and Ralph Usyk of NC; and his sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Pamela Cosamano of Marcy, NY, Santo “Sam” and Sharri Cosamano of Marcy, NY, and Frank, Jr. and Jacqueline Cosamano of Deerfield, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Ernst and Nicole Ernst; Denise and John Kline, Tina and Charles Michel; Kara and Todd Hunter, Keli and Patrick Gorton, Kori Gnatek; Frank and Lauren Cosamano, Anthony Cosamano, Jr., Gina Cosamano; Samuel and Amanda Cosamano, Valerie Cosamano; James, Jason, and Frank Cosamano III; and Amy and Meghan Usyk. In addition, he leaves his great-grandchildren, Madison Rose; Hailey Rose; and Noah James; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are his in-laws, Vito Paratore, with whom he shared a great closeness, Salvatore P. Sardina, Nancy Sardino, and Jeanette Sardina, and his long and lifetime friend, Joseph Aiello. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Anna Paratore, Joseph and Mary Cosamano, James and Frances Cosamano, Mamie Cosamano, and Mary and James Pulizzi; and his in-laws, James V. Sardino, Joseph J. “Butch” Sardina, Sr., Albert and Helen E. Sardino, and Carmella “Millie” Sardina. The family offers its heartfelt appreciation to the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center CCU staff, especially acknowledging Pete for the comfort and genuine care rendered to Frank and his family with great dignity and compassion. Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 4-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The American Legion, Frankfort Post #845 will perform services at 7:00 pm. The family graciously accepts floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Frank’s honor to the Children’s Miracle Network; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mr. Cosamano’s funeral will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort with military honors.
