Mr. Frank J. Robertello

Mr. Frank J. Robertello, age 80, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the St. Joseph Nursing Home with his beloved family by his side. Born in Utica on July 13, 1931, Frank was the son of the late Dominick and Josephine (Campola) Robertello. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On May 31, 1954 he married the former Joyce Shields with whom he shared 57 years; they were soul mates whose two hearts beat as one, and Frank was a wonderfully devoted husband whose eyes lit up whenever he saw his beloved Joyce. Frank began his working career as a sales representative for David Gross, Inc. He then moved to H.K. Heinline, and later Herkimer Wholesale. His last place of employment was Finkle Distributors of Schenectady, the position from which he retired in November of 2003. Because of his hard work ethic and good business sense, he was admired by the companies who employed him and the customers he dedicated himself to throughout the years. Frank’s enjoyment of golfing, bowling, and spending time at his beloved camp were eclipsed only by his dedication to and involvement in his family’s life. It was with a gentle smile and an open heart that he gained the admiration of all who knew him. Frank’s compassion, understanding, and grace will be dearly missed. Frank was an active resident of the St. Joseph Nursing home, and he always smiled, making the days lighter for everyone. He never complained and he felt a special warmth when he prayed in the Chapel. He was a member of the Men’s Club, the Bell Choir, and a participant in the winter Olympics team, as well as numerous daily activities. Frank was a communicant of Historic Old St. John’s Church. Frank is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John Rundle of Marcy; his sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Judith Robertello of Utica, Daniel J. and Diane Robertello of New Hartford, and William and Gina Robertello of Marcy; and his grandchildren, Sarah J. Rundle of Marcy, Stacy Rundle of Watervliet, Frank D. Robertello, Jr., and Carl A. Robertello and friend Amanda Mondrick, all of Utica, Michael R. Robertello and friend Nathalie Peckham of Buffalo, Daniel J., Jr. and Jeannine Robertello of Albany, Justin L. Robertello of New Hartford, Amanda N. Robertello, Matthew D. Robertello and friend Kristi Teesdale, William V. Robertello, Jr., and Ariana Noelle Robertello, all of Marcy. Also left to mourn his passing are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dominick and Joyce Robertello of Utica, and William and Patricia Robertello of Oriskany; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; his in-laws, Julie S. Brown of Utica, and Mary T. Fairbrother of Marcy; and friends, Mike and Carol McGuirl; they were great company, and he was grateful to have them in his life. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Peter C. Brown, and Donald T. Fairbrother; and a great-niece, Nicole Robertello. The family would like to thank all those who made Frank’s journey easier: the staff of the St. Joseph Nursing Home, including all the Sisters, especially Sr. Robert, Sr. Carmelita, and Sr. Patricia; the many caregivers who made his day, with special mention of the occupational therapy girls, as well as Yasmin, Gen, Desiree, Pattye, Calys, Jenn, and Rachel. A special thanks to his longtime physician Dr. Dilip Kachare. The family will honor and commemorate Frank’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Frank’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Flanagan. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home Activities Dept.; envelopes will be available at the service.
