Mr. Frank P. Pellegrino

Mr. Frank P. Pellegrino, age 77, formerly of Clinton and currently a resident of the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his daughters by his side. Frank was born in Utica on January 6, 1934, the son of the late John and Mary Pellegrino. He was raised and educated locally, a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country from 1954-1956 during the Korean Conflict. On September 22, 1956 he married the former Elaine A. Cosco who passed away on August 9, 2003; from their days as high school sweethearts and throughout their marriage of almost 47 years, Frank and Elaine shared a special bond that united them in the joys and commitments of family life. Frank’s career as an Electronics Technician began at Univac, and later continued at the Griffiss Air Force Base where he was a Radar Technician, the position from which he retired in 1994. But his family was his primary passion in life, and he felt loved by them. He was a practical joker with a light sense of humor, and he shared his heartfelt happiness and time with his one and only granddaughter, Jessica, who often brought him sweets. He could often be found in his woodworking shop with his grandsons, creating Adirondack chairs, and a rocking horse for his loved ones to cherish and pass down to generations that follow. In his spare time, he enjoyed a good game of golf and often followed the sport on television. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Frank is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann and Charles Conigliaro of Frankfort, and Nancy and Michael Stark of New York Mills; his grandchildren, Eric Conigliaro, and Tim Conigliaro, and their families, all of Frankfort, and Jessica Stark of NY Mills; and his great grandchildren, Madison K. Conigliaro, and Iyla C. Conigliaro. He also leaves his brother, John Papaleo of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Annabelle and Larry Calabrese of Whitesboro, and Nicholas Cosco of Utica; his special neighbor, Mary Tettamant; and his friends, John and Jean Maziarz, and Bob and Charlotte Cotter, all of Clinton, Barbara and Lee Ripstine of AZ, Marie and Jack Del Gado of New Hartford, and Tom and Mamie Mazzatti of Clinton. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Papaleo; and his sister, Eleanor Frate. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, ICU, and the staff of the Hawthorn House at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center for all the care and compassion shown to Frank and his family during this difficult time. The family will honor and commemorate Frank’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a committal prayers ceremony on Friday afternoon at 1:00 at Christ Our Savior Chapel in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors conferred by the United States Army. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation (www.ataxia.org), Your Neighbors, Inc., or the Frankfort Fire Department Memorial Park; envelopes will be available at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
