Mr. Francis "Paulie" Annese

Mr. Francis “Paulie” Annese, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 5, 2014, in the comfort of his home at CNYDSO on York Street. Born in Utica on February 25, 1936, Francis was the son of the late Orazio Ray and Lucy (Mangano) Annese. He attended the Rome State School for many years and later moved to his York Street home. Paulie loved warmth and comfort of “home” on York Street. Though he faced a lifetime of disability, he enjoyed his days at the ARC Riverside Day School in the company of all his friends. Paulie valued socializing in his home and community and derived much pleasure by helping others. He cared about all aspects of his appearance and preferred to choose his daily activities. He looked forward to his trips to “town”, especially shopping at the Dollar Store and having lunch at McDonalds. He loved coloring in his coloring books. Paulie is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Gerald Cavoly of Marcy; his aunt, Antoinette Imundo of Utica; his nieces and nephews and their families, Laurie Cavoly, Gerri Ann and Tom Vagadori, Lucille Cavoly and Elma Ruiz, Gene and Kelly Ciccolella, Paul and Jackie Ciccolella, Judy Ciccolella, Raymond and Sue Testa, Debbie Sandin, Luann and Vern Ainsworth, Lori and Paul Laroux, and Renee and John Childers; and his “family” from York Street and Riverside Day School. He was predeceased by his brother, Dominick Annese; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose F. and Rudolf C. “Rudy” Ciccolella, and Angeline “Angie” and Ed Ramberg; nephew, Richard Testa; uncles, Henry Mangano, and Rocky and Josephine Mainone; and his aunts, Ida and Tom Melfe, and Aurora and Joseph Mangano. Paulie’s sister would like to thank all his caregivers and teachers for the extended care and compassion rendered to him over the years. Mary Ann was always sure in her heart that her brother was lovingly taken care of. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00-12:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Paulie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday at noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta.
