Frances V. (Delia) Peters

Mrs. Frances V. (Delia) Peters, age 82, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with her loving family by her side. Frances was born in Utica on December 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Paternoster) Delia. She was raised and educated locally. On April 23, 1949 she married Peter F. Peters with whom she shared 62 years in a holy union of love and trust. A loving matriarch, Frances cared for her home and family as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She honored her family by making their concerns and comforts her highest priority. She was blessed with a beautiful sense of humor and a zest for life. She held strong to her opinions and was a well-versed debater. Frances loved cooking and enjoyed having her family over on weekends. She found pleasure in crocheting, playing bingo, visiting casinos, dining out, and cheering for the Atlanta Braves. She was a communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Frances is survived by her husband Peter; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Biel of Utica; her sons and daughter-in-law, Peter S. and Roseann Peters, and Rich A. Peters and Christine Siedsma, all of Frankfort; and her grandchildren, Erika Biel, Rachel Biel, Michael Peters, Matthew Peters, and Lisa Peters. In addition, she leaves her sister, Carmella DiFlo of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Nancy Delia, Minnie Delia, Mariam Delia, Richard and Patricia Peters; and her friends, Evelyn Guido, and Rose Almond. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Nicholas A. Delia, Michael F. Delia, Jr., Angelo A. and Rosemary Delia, Frank and Polly Delia, and Carmen Delia; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Antoinette and Dominick Yacco, and Rosalind and Guy Viti. The family would like to extend gratitude to the staffs of both the Albany and Troy neighborhoods of the Masonic Care Community and the personnel of both the Maintenance and Food Service departments for their generous, loving care and concern. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Prayer of Incense will be offered Sunday at 4:30 at the funeral home. Frances’ funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
