Mrs. Frances Evelyn (Casalette) Johnpoll

Mrs. Frances Evelyn (Casalette) Johnpoll, age 88, of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc. Born in Utica on August 5, 1922, Frances was the daughter of the late Sal and Mary (Mangano) Casalette. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and the Faxton School of Nursing. She successfully passed her NY State Boards acquiring her license to practice nursing. On February 2, 1946 she married James “Jim” Robert Johnpoll, Sr. with whom she shared a wonderful love story that lasted 59 years until Jim’s passing on April 22, 2005. For Frances and Jim, it was love at first sight; they had a great affection for each other, and complemented one another in love and life. It is clear to their loved ones that through her death they are now reunited. Her career as a registered nurse spanned numerous years in local hospital settings. When the blessings of her children became a priority in her life, she took the opportunity to remain at home and care for their well-being. She will be lovingly remembered as “the school nurse” at Deerfield Elementary School where she had the opportunity to watch over the youth of that community and truly knew the camaraderie of her fellow staff and the joys of a fulfilling career. The hallmark of her life was her family and she tended to each of their needs in her own special way and made occasions unique and individualized. Although motherhood was one of her greatest joys, she adored and admired her grandchildren and the generation that followed. She and her sisters also shared a unique relationship that lasted a lifetime. She was blessed with an uplifting personality, and friendships were important to her. In all, Frances was a classy lady, content, humble, and proud of her life’s accomplishments. She derived pleasure from traveling and playing bingo. She also looked forward to her summers at Limekiln Lake at their summer camp which was a place where family would gather, and many memorable times were had. Frances was a devout Catholic and a prayerful woman. Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith “Judy” and David Forshay of Diamond Point, NY. Awaiting her along with others who have gone before her will be her son, James Robert Johnpoll, Jr. who passed away on October 19, 2010. Surviving are her two grandsons, David James Forshay and his companion Jennifer DalSanto of Diamond Point, Daniel Kirby Forshay of Orlando, FL; and her great-grandchildren, David James, Jr., and Joy Forshay. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister, Rosemary “Rorie” Roth; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Sam Schavone, Donald Smith, and Mary Ann and Fred Stanton. She was blessed with many friendships throughout her life. She was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-law, Joanne Casalette, Elaine and Charles Heaton, and Carol Schavone; and her brother-in-law, Francis “Buddy” Roth. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Elm Unit, who tended to Frances with such compassion and outstanding care. Visitation will be held Monday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265; envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. Frances’ funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler.
