Mrs. Frances "Fran" (Cardamone) Chambrone

UTICA - Mrs. Frances “Fran” (Cardamone) Chambrone, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side. Born in Utica on July 12, 1938, Frances was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Falzarine) Cardamone. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1956. On April 4, 1959, she married Joseph A. Chambrone, it was a marriage of their era. She was a loving wife and catered to all of her husband’s needs during their 58 years together. First and foremost, Fran’s calling was to be a mom and she remained home for many years to raise her family. She was very connected to each of her children, and from that love, each of them has beautiful memories. She entered the work force as an Office Associate at the Ed Parry Realty Company and later as a Legal Secretary to Sue Baum. Fran’s friendly demeanor and rapport with people led her to a position with the Utica City School District as Office Clerk at H. R. Jones School. She was beloved in this vocation by the Administrative staff, students, and parents. Her organizational skills were outstanding and the smile on her face was a sign of her cordiality and concern for all. She loved her job. Fran was graced with wisdom and a winsome smile. She took pride in her daily appearance and apparel. She was the nucleus of her family and her children’s happiness was so important to her. Each of them spent special time and experiences with her. When it came to her kids, she kept her eyes open and took time to listen, a tradition that carried on through their adult years. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart; she loved each of their personalities, and always had them by her side. She loved to visit her daughter at their White Lake summer camp for Sunday dinner, as well as her son’s camp in Old Forge amid the beauty of the Adirondacks. As matriarch, she celebrated the holidays at her home. She was a gracious host and a one-man band as she delivered a beautiful meal to the table. Fran enjoyed solving the jumbo crossword puzzle and walking her dog “Brandie” in all weather conditions. Wherever she wanted to go, Fran followed. She had a special connection with her pal. She was a woman of faith in God. Fran is survived by her husband, Joe; her children and their loves, Rosemary and Ron Brown; Joseph A. Chambrone, Jr. and Paula Schnitt, and Michael and Jennifer Chambrone. She was preceded by two infant children, Joseph Chambrone, and Patricia Chambrone with whom she is now reunited. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Edward Ajaeb, Amanda Ajaeb; and Jionni Chambrone; and her sisters, Barbara Santino, and Judith Calhoun. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Costantino “Costy” Prestigiacomo, and Marian and Joseph Favata; brother and sister-in-law, Peter A. Cardamone (January 7, 2018) and his wife JoAnn Cardamone; and her brothers-in-law, Daniel Santino, and Robert Calhoun. She will also by remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends throughout her life. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Dave Petrie, NP Julie Gorczynski, who she so much appreciated; RCIL Adult Day Care Program for their resources and concern; Home Health Aides from At Home Independent Care, especially nurse case managers Maureen and Fran, and the staff, Christina, Karen, Diana, Sheila, Rose, and Sandy. They were trustworthy and allowed Fran’s children to feel secure of their mom’s days and her dignity in staying at home. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Frances’ funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. James Cesta. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
