Flowreen "Donna" Spratt

UTICA - Flowreen “Donna” Spratt, age 73, transitioned to heaven on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, after a valiant fight to remain with her loved ones. Flowreen was born in Amory, Mississippi on November 21, 1950, the daughter of the late Luesinda and Willie Spratt. Flowreen and her family relocated to Utica in 1960 where she attended Kernan, Brandegee, and Potter Elementary Schools. She was once employed with the Utica Psychiatric Center and Abelove’s Linen Supply Company. Flowreen was a loving and devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Everyone knew her name. She was supportive of all those she loved, attended funerals, and shared her heart of gold, by helping anyone in need. She was a natural caregiver. She volunteered her time on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Presbyterian Church on Genesee St. Flowreen was an outgoing woman who loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She made lasting memories through her presence at barbeques, adventures to the casino, “trying her luck” fishing, working on crossword puzzles, and listening to Betty Wright as she cleaned up early in the morning. Flowreen leaves behind her loving children, Joseph Spratt, Bill and Yalaunda Mercer, Cleotis Mercer, Clifton and Amber Mercer, and Victoria Mercer. She had 23 grandchildren, Jazzian Jenkins, Joseph Spratt II, Crystell Jenkins, Rahmel Spratt, Zanita Spratt, Shavontez Freeman, Shai McBride, Tyheim Holland, Clifton Mercer, Cameron Mercer, Kiera Mercer, Khamya Mercer, Kelsa Mercer, Khari Mercer, DaShawn Mercer, Desire Mercer, Dayanna Mercer, Sariah Mercer, Diajunea Walker, Rahshaun Mercer, Joeniyah Minor, Daquan Boykin and Yvonne Wheeler; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edith Huyler, and Willie and Beverly Spratt; sister-in-law, Dorothy Spratt; and her godson, Austin Giles. She also had a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved deeply. Flowreen shared a blessed relationship with her life-long companion and the father of her children, Willie Mercer, who passed away on November 27, 2007. She was additionally predeceased by her siblings, Carrie Lou Spratt, Millie Spratt, Roger Spratt, John “Coon Boy” Spratt; and her grandchildren, Jollette Spratt, Bill Mercer, Jr., and Khadija Rogers. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Flowreen’s nephew, Michael Reed, who stood by her side and helped her with anything she needed in life, until her passing. An additional thank you to her life-long friend, Linda York, for her shared memories and companionship. “If roses grow in Heaven, Lord, Please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Mother’s arms And tell her they’re from me. Tell her that I love and miss her, And when she turns to smile, Place a kiss upon her cheek, And hold her for a while. Garcia Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Believer’s Miracle Deliverance Ministries, 207 Eagle St. Flowreen’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
