Ferminia "Mina" Creaco

Ferminia “Mina” Creaco, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on January 22, 1936, Ferminia was the daughter of the late Cristoforo and Vittoria “Victoria” (Ficchi) Creaco. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1954. During her working life, Mina was employed by the Gorea Trucking Company for 15 years and later held a position at St. Elizabeth Hospital as an office associate, retiring in 1976. Mina was a hard-working woman, a loyal friend, and a person of her word. She lived by simple but valued virtues that guided her life of service to others. Blessed with the ability of unconditional devotion, she served as caretaker to her parents providing them with a great sense of security. Despite any physical disabilities, she overcame much adversity in her life and through her faith in God, she prevailed. Mina enjoyed cooking, baking, and maintaining her home; her sponge cake and cassata rose to perfection. In years past, she lovingly carried on the traditions of sacred holiday dinners. Mina honored her Catholic creed and practiced her faith as a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Mina is survived by her sister, Frances Riggi of Rochester; many nieces, and nephews, especially acknowledging Joseph “Joey” Creaco of Frankfort, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her sister-in-law Kanani Creaco. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Peter Creaco, and Demetrio “Danny” and the love of his life Carmella “Dolly” Creaco; her brother-in-law, Frank Riggi; her nephews, Daniel Creaco Jr., and Christopher Creaco who died at birth; and her niece, Victoria Creaco. Gratitude is offered to the entire staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for all their care and compassion, as well as all the caregivers who aided her during numerous rehabilitations. A special thank you to Holly for the wonderful kindnesses she shared. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mina’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday afternoon at 2:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. Her family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. By family request, please omit flowers. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
