Mrs. Eve Juliette "Eva" (Plescia) Bottoni

Mrs. Eve Juliette “Eva” (Plescia) Bottoni, age 83, went to be with the Lord when she passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Martin Luther Home after a long convalescence. At the time of her passing, her loving family was by her side. Born in Utica on December 1, 1931, Eve was the daughter of the late Anthony and Filomena (DeNicola) Plescia. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1949. She furthered her education at Utica College. She was married to George A. Bottoni, a 40-year union that was blessed with three children, Eileen, Jeanne, and George, Jr. Eve enjoyed a diverse working career. She was employed by Dr. Demetrius Skamus in his medical office for a period of 14 years. She was instrumental in the formation of the American Committee on Italian Migration (ACIM) where she would help place Italian families who settled in the Utica area after emigrating from Italy. During the 1960’s, Eve served as Secretary to the Oneida County Executive, Harold Kurch. She also worked as a Mary Kay Cosmetics distributor for 20 years. During the 1970’s, she and her husband owned and operated Parkway Liquors. For many years, Eva and her daughter Eileen took trips together and frequently visited the Saratoga Springs Race Track where they had many good times. Eileen had fond memories of attending classes at Utica College together with her mom who was her best friend. Eva’s daughter Jeanne remembers hosting holidays for over thirty years with mom always involved in all the family festivities during that time. Eva loved celebrating special occasions and spending time with her loved ones. During her leisure time, she enjoyed listening to music, spending time at the beach, and traveling. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Eva is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Eileen (Migliaccio) and Terry Couch, and his son Matthew D. Couch of Marcy, Jeanne (Bottoni) Wilkerson and her husband Glen of Utica; her son, George A. Bottoni, Jr. and partner Meghan Khashman and her son, Anthony Khashman; her former husband, George A. Bottoni, Sr.; her grandchildren, Dr. Francis C. Migliaccio and his wife, Gina (Orseo) Migliaccio, Anthony G. Migliaccio; Jason D. Allen and his wife, Sara, Douglas J. Allen-Leonard and husband Jason Allen-Leonard, Joshua G. Allen-Bottoni and his wife, Jamie Lee, and her son Matthew of Andover, MA; and Kayla; and her great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Sage, Solan, Scarlette; Philomena, Cecelia, and Parker. She will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Estelle Scarano Plescia; and her brothers-in-law, Daniel Bottoni of Boynton Beach, FL, and Joseph Bottoni of Jacksonville, FL. Mom had many wonderful friends during her lifetime, too numerous to mention, especially acknowledging her long, endearing friendship with Dr. Demetrius Skamus. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Christine A. and Anthony W. Scalzo; her brother, Romeo James Plescia; and her in-laws, Edith and Carl Argen, and Alice Geraci. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Lutheran Home, especially Michelle Carroll, for the endless compassion and care they extended to our dear mother, Eve, during her stay. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the American Veterans Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Eve’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
