Eugenio P. "Gene" Nappi

Mr. Eugenio "Gene" Nappi, age 63, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2005 at his home. Born in Utica on May 14, 1941, Gene was the son of the late Generoso and Amalia "Molly" (Sellitti) Nappi. Raised and educated locally, he graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1959. A veteran of the military, he served as a member of the Military Police with the U.S. Army. On January 13, 1961 he married the former Faith "Faye" Julian. Throughout their 44-year union, Gene and Faye have shared a relationship which was founded upon their love, blessed with their children, and enlivened with humor. Mr. Nappi was proud to carry on the business legacy of his father in the family enterprise, Nappi's Upholstering. As a meticulous artist, a talented craftsman, and a creative visionary, he was known throughout the area for the exceptional quality of his work and integrity of his business practices. Mr. Nappi is survived by his wife, Faye; his two cherished and beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie' Nappi-Gilbert and her husband, Terrance of Utica, and Jene' and Daniel Rossi of Boston, MA; and the apple of Gene's eye, his granddaughter, Danielle Cozza. His survivors also include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donato "Dan" and Janice Nappi, and Dr. Anthony and Cynthia Nappi; a sister, Annamarie Parker; a number nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, particularly acknowledging the special relationships he shared with Antonetta, Pasquale, Zio Giuseppe, all of whom reside in Liveri, Italy, and Genaro Nappi of NJ; his in-laws, Beverly and Melvin Partello, Ronald and Jeraldine Julian, Carol and Anthony Carzo, and Sandra and Walter Kowalski; and numerous godchildren. Throughout the years, Gene was blessed with many wonderful friends who greatly enhanced his life, especially remembering the loyalty of Mickey Rabice, Andy Putrello, Fred Frontera, Chris Burns, Victor Piperata, and Salvatore Mauro. He also leaves his faithful canine companion, Lulu. He was predeceased by a nephew, Jeffrey T. Julian; and a longtime friend, Joseph Saccal. The family offers its sincere thanks to all those who assisted Gene and his family during his untimely passing. Visitation will be held on Tuesday (today) from 4 to 7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gene's Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will take place with Military Honors in Calvary Cemetery.
