Ephriam A. "Eph" Dealing

Mr. Ephriam A. “Eph” Dealing, age 76, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Malone, NY on June 5, 1931, Eph was the son of the late Gordon and Margaret (Martin) Dealing. He was raised and educated in Whitesboro and Poland, NY. On June 29, 1989 he married the former Floy Golden with whom he shared a loving and lasting union. A truck driver by vocation, Eph worked for numerous local trucking companies including Associated Transportation, Inc., and the Wonder Bread Co. He retired due to illness from Hollenbeck Enterprises, Inc. of Wisconsin. An outgoing individual, Eph made friends very easily. He enjoyed having conversations with everyone he met during his life’s journey. As a sports enthusiast he supported the Syracuse Orangemen football team and as an avid Nascar fan he rooted for Jeff Gordon. In his younger years, Eph was drafted by a semi-professional baseball farm team for the Atlanta Braves, an affiliation that lasted until he sustained an injury. Eph is survived by his wife, Floy; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Ronald Bryant of IA; his son, Shannon Dealing of Tempe, AZ; his step-children and their families, Theresa and Gerald Hughes of Utica, Susan and Al Zajak of Clay, Patricia and Brian Kelly of KY, Tracy Parker of IA, Jackie Parker of Rome, Kenneth Parker, Michael Parker, both of FL, and Richard Ossie, Jr. of Utica. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joshua, and Jacob Bryant; his step-grandchildren, Evan Hughes, Jackie Kelly, Kathleen Kelly, David Kelly, and Jenna Ann Zajak. He was preceded in death by his step-grandson, Trevor R. Hughes. He also leaves his sister, Jeannie Miller of Cold Brook; his brother and sister-in-law, Delbert “Del” and Rachael Ann Dealing of Utica; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Kaye, and the nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially acknowledging John of 3C, and Lisa of the Special Care Unit for their professionalism and concern. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 – 6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Mr. Dealing’s honor to the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Eph’s Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place at Hoffmeister Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
