Enelda "Nellie" (Loccia) Plescia

Mrs. Enelda "Nellie" (Loccia) Plescia, age 94, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at the St. Joseph Nursing Home. Born in St. Johnsville, NY, on December 28, 1911, Nellie was the daughter of the late Egisto and Elsie (Vicarelli) Loccia. She was raised and educated locally. It was on September 25, 1931 in St. Patrick's Church that she married Michele "Mike" Plescia with whom she shared a 63-year union prior to his passing on January 14, 1995. A hard-working and dependable employee, Mrs. Plescia held a position as a seamstress for Sturdy Toggs for many years before retiring from the company. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing and knitting and often used her skills to fashion dresses, other articles of apparel, and her famous dollies. A communicant of St. Agnes Church, she also belonged to the Eastside Senior Center. Mrs. Plescia is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Anthony Cotrupe of New Hartford; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael L. and Cheryl Plescia of Whitesboro, and Gary and Helen Plescia of Utica. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacki and Scott Hasko, and Anthony Cotrupe and his wife, Joan Lawrence, all of NJ, Kevin Cotrupe of Rochester, Michael A. Plescia of Whitesboro, Brenda and Robert Johnson of New Hartford, Caprice Shaw of CT, and David Plescia of Utica; and her great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Abbigail, Alexander, Paige, Nellie, Henry, Lucy, Cameron, Garrett, and Victoria. She cherished in her heart the memory of her great-grandson, Mitchell Avery Johnson, who passed away on December 29, 2005. In addition, Nellie's survivors include her sisters-in-law, Mary Carmella Loccia of CA, and Mary Loccia of St. Johnsville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her cousins, especially Pierre and Arlene Iagnocco and their daughter, Patricia Iagnocco. She will also be missed by her very special friends including Walt and Josephine Somers. She was predeceased by two brothers, Erailo Loccia and Nat Loccia; and two sisters, Theresa Fleck and Lavena Camponi. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider donations in Nellie's honor to St. Agnes Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. A celebration of Nellie's life will be conducted at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 immediately upon the conclusion of calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
