Elvira A. Hyde

Mrs. Elvira A. (Hyman) Hyde, age 51, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on October 30, 1958, Elvira is the daughter of Lucia (Iannone) Hyman and the late Irvin Hyman. She was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from T. R. Proctor High School in 1977. On July 22, 1978 she married John D. Hyde with whom she shared 31 years; their partnership in life was filled with love, humor, and expressions of affection. Elvira was a great mom, a positive influence, and a wonderful friend to her “girls” who were her greatest love. She excelled in a myriad of hobbies including, cake decorating, hairdressing, crafting, reading novels, and helping others. She was as honest and independent as she was reliable and dependable. Elvira was a devoted caregiver to her mother who she loved deeply. She was passionate about caring for animals, not only her domestic pet, but also those in nature. She was blessed with a deep and abiding spirituality, and her insights provided peaceful feelings to those who knew her. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Elvira is survived by her husband, John; her three daughters, Tammy A. Hyde, Tanya M. Hyde, and Ashley M. Hyde; her mother, Lucy; and her brother, Michael Hyman. Survivors also include her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially acknowledging Annemarie Spina; her in-laws; and her close and dear friend, Kitty. The family extends great appreciation to Dr. Samir Desai, and Windy Mitchell, PA, for their compassion and professionalism, and the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, 6th Floor, who provided much comfort and support, especially Christina; and the Regional Cancer Center with special mention of Kim Scheri of the Infusion Department. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Elvira’s funeral service will commence on Monday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
