Mrs. Ella V. (Bostick) Geames

Mrs. Ella V. (Bostick) Geames, age 88, of Utica, departed this life on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at The Pines at Utica. Ella was the daughter of the late Ned and Eldora (Clark) Bostick. She was born on March 12, 1924, in Bainbridge, Georgia. She was raised and educated in Georgia where she met and married the late Nathaniel Irvin on July 10, 1940. She was blessed with seven children from this union. She later married Lugene Geames and had three more children. They relocated to Melville, Long Island in 1954, later moving to Huntington, NY where she resided for many years. She worked for the Veterans Administration in Northport, NY until she retired in 1978. She spent some time in Rochester, NY and Atlanta, Ga. before moving to the Utica area where she has resided since 2003. Ella was a strong-willed, kind, and fun-loving woman who loved to have fun and share in happy times. She was an excellent cook specializing in savory Southern cuisine. She was also proud of the fact that she was a member of 5 generations of family lineage. In her spare time, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, word finds, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Ella cherished the memory of her beloved daughter, Dora Mae Platt, who passed away in 1962. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Alberta Jones and Harry Fulton of Rochester, NY, Lizzie and Carl Moore of Huntington, NY, Christine and Claude Barrow of Atlanta, GA, and Katherine Geames of Rochester, NY. She also held in her heart the memories of her sons who preceded her: Albert Williams, who passed away in 1982, Charles Bostick who passed in 1997, and Nathan Irvin who passed in 1984. Surviving are her sons, William Geames, and Leroy Geames, both of Utica; and her daughters-in-law, Cheryl Williams, Beverly Bostick and one sister-in-law Louise Nathan. In addition, she leaves her 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her 12 siblings. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1-2 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Ella’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. George Clark officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Bainbridge, GA at the convenience of the family.
