Elizabeth (Ford) Greer

DEERFIELD - Elizabeth, age 93, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Lutheran Home of CNY, with her children by her side. She was the daughter of the late Jennie (Hughes) and Mark Ford. On May 10, 1947, she married Harold William Greer, a union of 60 years until his passing in 2009. She maintained a career throughout her marriage, retiring after many years from the U.S. Postal Service. She then began to enjoy a rich retirement and provided her grandchildren with adventures and memories to last a lifetime. She is survived by her daughter Sharon McNerney, sons and daughter in law, Neil Greer (Alice Browar), Fred Greer (Janice), her grandchildren Brendan McNerney (Anna), Ryan McNerney, Sean McNerney (Olga Petrovsky), and their father Dr. John McNerney, Justin Cichon (Vanessa), her great grandchildren Dylan, Anthony, Juliana, and Julien. Survivors include her in laws Sue Ford, Winona Greer, Sally Greer, Helen Kerr (Harry), Margaret Cockerham (Henry), and Michael Greer (Sumiko), nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Ford, Agnes Ford, brothers and sister in law George Ford (Florence), John Ford, her in laws Earl Greer, Bernadette Dubiel (Stanley), Joseph Greer, Helen Witney (Chester), and Walter Greer. She also leaves her faithful canine companion Amie. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Lutheran Care-Mapleview, especially her caretakers, for their extraordinary care, and the amazing love they showered upon her. They are angels on earth. Additionally, gratitude to Michelle Holbrook, and Abdo Emira Latic, who cared for her at home. During the Lenten season, please refrain from floral offerings and consider donations to the Lutheran Home Foundation to benefit the residents who remain. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Elizabeth’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday morning at 11:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Waterville at the convenience of the family.
