Elizabeth (Shepp) DeRosa

NEW HARTFORD – Elizabeth (Shepp) DeRosa, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 19, 1935, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (McAllister) Shepp. Raised and educated in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of Kensington High School. At one time, Elizabeth was married to the late Robert D. “Bob” DeRosa, Sr. To that relationship came the blessing of their four children. During her career, Elizabeth held various positions. Most recently she was employed by the Montgomery Ward Dept. Store as a sales associate, the position from which she retired. A very loving and devoted matriarch to her children and grandchildren, Elizabeth was always there for her family and sensitive to their needs. Elizabeth also held a deep love for animals, especially dogs and horses. A woman of many interests, Elizabeth was an active member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed ceramics, walking, and socializing with her special group of friends. She was a true patriot. Her love for her country continued to shine brightly as she faithfully rooted for her home team during the Olympic Games. In her younger years, she enjoyed the thrill of dancing for the U.S.O. as well as participating in beauty pageants. Elizabeth was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. She relished watching her grandchildren participate in competitive sports activities. She never missed the weekly Bingo games at the Meadows. Elizabeth is survived by her children and their spouses: Debbie and Al DiNitto, Mary and Buddy Maunz, Lisa and John Waters, and Robert, Jr. and Nancy DeRosa; grandchildren, Dana and Daniel Villegas, David DiNitto and Tiffany Chau, Anthony and Michelle DiNitto; Crystal and Patrick Fiegl, Jackie Carbone; Buddy, Jr. and Andrea Maunz; Stephanie DeRosa and her fiancé Brian Alpert, Jennifer DeRosa, and Nicole DeRosa; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt DiNitto; Erin Manalo; Dylan and Logan Fiegl; Danielle, and Bianca Carbone; and Alexandra, and Hunter Maunz. Elizabeth had a very special relationship with her sister Marge and her husband Wynne Hyatt. Her memory will further live on in her special friend, Connie Grimaldi, as well as her numerous friends in her old North Utica neighborhood. The family extends a special thank you to her aide and dear friend, Pam Houck, for her care and friendship and to the staff at Sitrin Long Term Care Facility. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Elizabeth’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 6:00 p.m. immediately upon the conclusion of visitation at the funeral home. Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum will take place at the convenience of the family.
