Mrs. Eleanor (Valerio) Tucciarone

CLINTON- Mrs. Eleanor (Valerio) Tucciarone passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, just days before her 85th birthday, after a prolonged illness. She was in the company of family who remained by her side until her last moments. Eleanor was born in Utica on January 12, 1938, to the late Vincent and Marion (Roscigno) Valerio. She was raised in Utica and attended T. R. Proctor High School. On July 7, 1956, Eleanor married Frank Tucciarone. They were true companions, and both possessed a strong desire to be by each other’s sides. In their 66 year union, their children above all remember the harmony in their relationship. Eleanor’s paramount “profession” was that of being a homemaker to her family. She also assisted her husband in operating their tailor shop, Goldberg’s Tailoring on Emerson Ave. This work was very gratifying for her, as she enjoyed spending time with customers, getting to know them and often befriending them. Eleanor’s family was blessed with a woman who was not only “proficient,” but was also “the queen” of her kitchen. Sunday dinners were her specialty, and she was always delighted when her family was at her table. Eleanor was a friend to many people—she had an inviting sense of humor and hospitality was important to her. Eleanor was a constant presence for her children and her grandchildren. Card games were a ritual whenever loved ones gathered. She was captivated by the Game Show Network and took pleasure in the challenges of word search puzzles. If you knew Eleanor, you might find her at the Turning Stone Casino Resort, where she found much entertainment. Her Catholic creed was an important part of her life, and much good came from her intended prayers for others. It was evident that Eleanor knew her Lord, especially in times of need. Graceful and kind, was how she chose to live her many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. Eleanor inspired all those she encountered to do their best, and to know her was a blessing. Eleanor is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Frank; and their sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael and Mary Tucciarone, and Frank, Jr., and Kathy Tucciarone. She is also survived by many grandchildren and their loves, Dr. Jason Tucciarone (Amy Potemski), Jamie Tucciarone (Paul Duffy), Mathew Tucciarone; twins Jaclyn (Chris) Perkins, and Sara Tucciarone, Elanie Florence, twins Alison Button (Sean McCormick), and Ashley (Andrew) Potter; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Micah, Henry, Jacob, John, Makenzie, Ryan, Andrea’, Destiny, Landon, and Anthony. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Dr. Noble and Muriel Valerio, Jean and Pat “Red” Gualtieri, Yolanda and Dr. Dominick Nuccio, Victor “Uncle Vic” Valerio, her brother Dominick in his infancy, and her brother John in his youth. She is additionally survived by many nephews, nieces – especially Elaine Ruzanski for her unwavering love and support, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; sister-in-law, Anna Tucciarone; and her dear friend, Sue Williams, whose companionship brought her much joy. She was also predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerrallamo and Maria (Bombace) Tucciarone; and her nephews, Ronald Gualtieri, and Dr. Robert Nuccio. Eleanor’s family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Dr. Christine Aranda, and all the nurses and staff who showed such kindness to Eleanor during her stays at MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Presbyterian Home of CNY, and the Folts Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Eleanor’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 13 Marvin Street, Clinton. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the mass. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s honor may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. online at www.hospicecareinc.org/donate-online. Interment will take in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
