Eleanor F. (Mallozzi) Sitrin

Mrs. Eleanor F. (Mallozzi) Sitrin passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on June 17, 1931, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Anthony and Nicoletta (Creo) Mallozzi. She was raised and educated locally. At one time she was wed to James Setzer. She was blessed with a second union when she married Richard Sitrin in 1979 with whom she shared 19 years. Richard passed away on November 8, 1998. Eleanor worked as a Nurse’s Aide and later in Occupational Therapy at the former Broadacres Nursing Facility, retiring in 1979. Eleanor was young-at-heart with a comical, yet compassionate and charitable nature. She was devoted to her loved ones and volunteered her time often at church. She attended Bible study classes where she read and was inspired by passages and scripture. She loved to attend church socials as a way to commune with her friends and neighbors in faith at the Gospel Light Baptist Church. Her leisure interests included antiquing and uncovering collectible or decorative items from earlier decades. Eleanor is survived by her children, Sharon L. Leao, James Gary Setzer, and Keith Wayne Setzer; her grandchildren, Erik and Erica Leao, Mark and Morgan Leao, and Anthony Leao; and her great-granddaughter, Jiana. She will also be missed by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and Ramon Cacossa, and Lena and Robert “Bob” Rowe; her brother, Alexander “Alex” Mallozzi; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brother-in-law Erwin B. Hughes, her best friend Bridgett Talerico, and her friends from Church, Kathy and Paul Maltese. She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Hughes; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Mallozzi. The family is grateful to all Eleanor’s doctors and caregivers for all their attention in caring for Eleanor. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Eleanor's graveside committal service which will commence on Monday afternoon at 1:00 at Crown Hill Memorial Park Cemetery followed by interment. In lieu of floral offerings, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be considered to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc; envelopes will be available at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
