Elaine (Albicker) Lopata

UTICA – Elaine (Albicker) Lopata was born on May 28, 1943 and died on Sunday, May 2, 2021. I wrote this obituary, obviously, prior to death and am using this opportunity to embarrass my family for the last time. I grew up the daughter of Mildred and Norman Albicker and sister of Richard Albicker. I am going to skip the details about schools, jobs, who I was married to, etc. because, let’s be honest, no one cares and no one gets the paper anyway. I was blessed with wonderful parents and a great family. I leave behind my children, Dr. Christopher (Yvonne) Lopata, Brian (Betsy) Lopata, Jennifer (Jeff) Pilipczuk, and Jeffrey Lopata. They were a handful but worth every grey hair and wrinkle. I have learned over the years that they were much worse than I thought. They have given me the great gift of love, fun, generosity, laughter and everything I could possibly have wanted. I also leave my wonderful grandsons; Andrew Lopata, Gavin Lopata, Jeffrey Pilipczuk, and Alex Pilipczuk. They are fine young men and our time together has been one of my greatest joys. (Notice the number of Jeffs). My family wishes to thank the doctors who stood beside me during my challenges, including Dr. Michael Kelberman who gave me an additional year of life!, Dr. Tatyana Antonevich who was so optimistic and hopeful, Dr. Alicia DeTraglia who had a kind and gentle soul; and the specialized medical professionals at the Roswell Park Cancer Center, an outstanding facility. My wishes are for no public visitation and I will privately be seen by those closest to me from within an urn- pardon me if I don’t greet you!
