Mr. Edward A. "Ed" Klein

Mr. Edward A. "Ed" Klein, age 79, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at The Pines at Utica Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on March 27, 1936, Edward was the son of the late Spencer and Laura (Gross) Klein. He was raised and educated locally. On July 13, 1968 he married the former Roseanne Macri; they were companions in mind and heart during their 46 year union. Ed worked as a Security Guard at L B Security & Investigations, Inc. for 28 years. In addition to his steadfast work ethic, Ed was blessed with an easy-going personality and a sense of humor. He was a loving patriarch, devoted to his children and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed quality time with his special grandson Vincent, whom he lovingly referred to as “my boy”, and raised him to become a fine young man. At home, he loved to cook Italian cuisine and many other ethnic foods, especially hamburgers and mashed potatoes. He liked to try his luck with the lottery and games of chance at the casino. And summertime stops at Voss’s were well worth the wait in line. On warm days, Ed found peace and pleasure outdoors in the rays of sunlight and during drives through the countryside with his wife. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Ed is survived by his wife, Roseanne; his daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Klein “my Little Nurse” and Christopher, Laurie Klein and Randy, and Lynn and Dan Darling; his son and daughter-in-law, Edward, Jr. and Lisa Klein; his 11 grandchildren, especially grandson Vincent Klein and granddaughter Stephanie Klein both of whom he raised as his own; and his 3 great-grandchildren. Always close to his heart was the memory of his great-grandson, Braylen Michael Klein, who passed away on March 11, 2013. He will also be remembered by his sisters and brother-in-law, Janice and Edward Jennings, Susanne M. Dellerba, Laura Puleo, and Lois Koscielniak; his brothers and sister-in-law, William and Linda Klein, and Gordon Klein; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his brother, John Klein, with whom he shared a special relationship. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Edward’s Funeral will continue on Holy Thursday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Funeral Rites will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski.
