Mr. Edward G. Ferris

NEW HARTFORD - Edward G. Ferris passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the age of 100. Edward was born in Pottsville, PA, on February 17, 1923, to the late Tony and Frieda (Naum) Ferris. He was raised and educated in Pottsville and was a proud U.S. Army veteran. On October 31, 1944, Edward wed the former Agnes M. Zogby. They shared a loving and devoted union of over 65 years prior to her passing on December 14, 2009. At one time, Edward held a shop foreman position with the General Millwork Corp, which was at the time located on Wurz Ave. Edward was a family man and a proud patriarch. He was always very dedicated to his family’s needs and wellbeing. He loved to play cards, especially pinochle. Edward was a communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Edward is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Philomena Ferris; and he treasured the memory of his daughter, Diane A. Ferris, who passed away on November 10, 2016. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael E. Ferris and Leslie Milazzo, Steven J. and Janelle Ferris, and Nicole and Anthony DelVecchio; and his great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ferris, Leah Ferris; Anthony DelVecchio, and Philip DelVecchio. He remembered fondly his siblings and their spouses, Anthony and Mercedes Ferris, Leo and Josephine Ferris, Frank Ferris, George Ferris, Angeline and Dominick DiObilda, Sarah J. and Anthony “Mitch” Abraham, and Josephine Johnson. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, especially of the DiObilda family; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Adele Jones. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Shaheen and Nabeha (Nojaim) Zogby; and his in-laws, Jack “Turk” and Carol Zogby, Joseph A. T. Zogby, and Clifford Jones. Relatives and friends are graciously invited to attend his Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed with Military Honors which will commence on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger St. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the service. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife and daughter.
