Mr. Edmund T. Trevisani,Sr. Ret. U.P.D.

Mr. Edmund T. Trevisani, Sr., Ret. U.P.D., age 88, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on March 24, 1923, Edmund was the son of the late Tommazo “Thomas” and Angelina (Filomena) Trevisani. He was raised and educated locally attending T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served his country during World War II. On September 6, 1948 he married the former Rose Mary Graziano with whom he shared a deep and devoted love for 63 years. Edmund’s 24 year career as a public servant began on February 24, 1955 when he was appointed to the Utica Police Department. During his tenure with the UPD, he served in the Uniformed Patrol Division, retiring on December 15, 1979. Concurrently, he was involved in the family business with his brother Pat at Trevisani Market located on the corner of Kossuth Avenue and Jay Street. At home, he was a patriarch and provider particularly proud of his family and his profession. The unity of his family and their well-being were his focus in life. Through his example, he provided his children with a strong work ethic and impressed upon them the importance of education. He had finesse on the dance floor and loved to move to the music of the Big Bands of his generation with his wife in his arms. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Utica Lodge #2054 and was active in the American Legion. He was a loyal NY Yankees fan. A man motivated by love and a sense of duty, Edmund honored his family, his country, and his community. As a man of faith, he was devoted to his God and Catholic creed and was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Edmund is survived by his wife, Rose Mary. They were blessed with ten children and their families: Edmund, Jr. and Marina Trevisani of Philadelphia and children, Ed Trevisani III, Marc Trevisani, Antonio Trevisani and Alex Trevisani; Robert Trevisani who passed away on November 19, 2008, his wife Marialyn Trevisani of Utica and children Robert Trevisani and Ryan Trevisani; Joanne Donaruma-Wade and her husband John Wade of New Hartford and children Michael Donaruma, Alexa Rose Donaruma and their father Mike Donaruma; Alane Trevisani of Marcy and children Rick Palmisano, Alessondra Haskell and Arabella Haskell; David and Elaine Trevisani of New Hartford and children Mia Rose Trevisani, Lauren Palmieri and Michael Palmieri; Steven Trevisani of Whitesboro and friend, Yulia; Dan and Carrie Trevisani of Utica and children Daniel Trevisani and Haydan; Dr. Ronald J. Trevisani of Orlando, Florida; Richard Trevisani Sr. of Utica and his girlfriend, Olga and children Richard Trevisani Jr. and Alec; Anthony and Maria Trevisani of New Hartford and children Anthony Trevisani, Gabriella Trevisani and Gianni Trevisani. In addition, he leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Elvira and Angelo J. “Joe” Marrotta of Whitesboro; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Gino and Arlene Trevisani of Waterville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially acknowledging Peppy Vassallo and Nancy Simbari; and his in-laws, Anna Trevisani, Manuele Trevisani, and Annette Graziano, all of Utica. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph “Butch” Trevisani, Frank Trevisani; and Pasquale Trevisani; and his sisters, Florence Trevisani, and Nancy Cittadino. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St. corner of Hammond Ave. Edmund's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta with military honors conferred. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
