Mrs. Eda M. (Pardi) Scotellaro

Mrs. Eda M. (Pardi) Scotellaro, age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on October 16, 1922, Eda was the daughter of the late Angelo and Orsolina (Landucci) Pardi. Raised and educated locally, she attended TR Proctor High School. On August 12, 1944 she married John J. Scotellaro with whom she shared 68 years in a close and endearing relationship that was blessed with true love for one another to the very end. Eda was a loving and caring matriarch, and her life was dedicated to the happiness and best interests of her family. She will be remembered for her loving, generous spirit, and the relationships she had with her loved ones. When Eda ventured into the workplace, she was a loyal and hard worker employed by the former J.B. Wells Department Store and the O’Donnell Liquor Store where she held the position of Store Manager. Her creative nature was reflected in her arrangement of unique baskets of vegetables, fruit, and candy, always providing the best quality and presentation. She learned this art while under the employ of Soretta’s Candy Store. She took pleasure in floral gardening and was a meticulous baker who stirred up everything from biscotti, which were often gifts for those who were sick, to her deep-dish apple pie which will long be remembered. She also enjoyed canning the fruits from the trees in their yard. In more graceful years, Eda and John loved to dance, and they did it so well that others would watch them with admiration. They were also racing fans of Vernon Downs where they loved to mingle in the Magic Miracle Mile Room. Eda’s religious devotion was deep-seeded in her life and she prayed for others with great sincerity of heart. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Eda is survived by her devoted husband, John; her daughter and son-in-law, Ursula M. and David M. Cerminaro, Sr. of Georgia; her grandchildren, David M. Cerminaro, Jr. of GA; Renee and Piero Ippoliti of NC; and Melinda and Joseph Clark, of GA; and her great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Giovanna. In addition, she leaves her sister, Rose Chambrone of New Hartford. Eda was preceded in death by her brother, Remo “Ray” Pardi, who shared a daily visit and companionship with her. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, the day before Eda would join him in eternal life. Eda’s passing is also mourned by her nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Mary Lou Allard for her devotion and dedication; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Marguerite Scotellaro, Samuel and Carmelita Scotellaro, Virginia Scotellaro, Frank Mastrovito, and Evelyn Pardi. She was predeceased by her sister, Angela DiGiglio-Gedieko; two additional brothers, Albert Pardi, who passed away in infancy, and John J. Pardi; and her in-laws, Louis and Alice Scotellaro, Emil Chambrone, Jr., Theresa “Tessie” and Philip Stoppiello, Marie Mastrovito, Peter Scotellaro, Michael "Nippy" Scotellaro, Raymond Scotellaro, Eleanor Beratta, Stella and Michael Amodio, and Edward Zaino. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the Visiting Nurse Association with special mention of Home Care Aide, Jodie Martucci and her husband Bob, a kind-hearted and most thoughtful person, who together developed a relationship of love and respect with Eda who thought of Jodie as a “daughter”. Thanks also to Dee Gray, Leanna, and Sherry who additionally supported and genuinely cared for the needs of Eda and her husband John. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Eda and Ray's visitations which will be held together on Monday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit flowers. Their funeral services and Celebration of their Lives will concurrently commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church where their Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. Interments will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
