Dorothy "Dottie" (Feldman) Mazza

NEW HARTFORD – An exemplar and local businesswoman, Dorothy “Dottie” (Feldman) Mazza, who lived a century long, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, in the comfort and dignity of her home, where she had been well cared for by her family. Born in Utica on August 13, 1925, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Julius and Sara (Sternberg) Feldman. She was the eldest of their five children and the last surviving sibling, now reunited in eternity with family, especially her mom and siblings. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She soon wed Joseph F. “Joey” Mazza, who was her partner in both personal and professional life. She later completed studies to become a travel agent and went on to enjoy a wonderful career. Joey and Dottie blended their personalities and strengths to establish Adams Travel Agency in 1966, a business they proudly carried through to its 50th year in 2016. Dottie was the nuts and bolts of the organization, the one who kept it running with efficiency and purpose. She did whatever it took to build the dependability for which they became known. She took Joey’s lead, who had the foresight to adapt the business into the computer age. Dottie was an exemplary role model for her employees and for the public at large. For so many years, she built a solid foundation of trust that was vital to both her employees and customers alike. Dottie was the glue that held her family together, connected through every season of life. Wherever she went, she brought love, strength, and unity to those around her. A true matriarch, she was the heart and center of her family, whose steady presence kept everyone close. She was always full of positive thoughts, patience, and sound advice for those who needed it. Dottie was very rarely wrong. She had excellent judgment and was strong in a quiet way. Her love was so fierce that, to her children and grandchildren, she was a helicopter mom even before people began using the phrase. But it was only because she loved them with all her soul. Unsurprisingly, Dottie loved to travel, especially to Monte Carlo and Aruba. She also loved family cruises. Entertaining for the holidays and hosting family gatherings brought her much joy, yet she knew when the time was right to pass the torch to her children to keep those traditions alive. They will forever treasure her tried-and-true recipes. Dottie was also known to have enjoyed a shopping spree or two. She faced every obstacle with determination, bravery, grace, and faith. A quiet believer, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Dorothy is survived by her cherished children and their spouses, Wendy and Dr. Hamid Moosavi, Francesca Mazza, and Dr. Joseph F. Mazza, Jr. and his wife Stephanie Mazza. Always close to her heart were the memories of her eldest daughter, Marlene “Becky” Mazza, who passed away in 1980, and her infant daughter, Gina Marie, who entered eternity in 1963. Her loss is also felt by her grandchildren, Gina and Andrew Anastos, JoAnna and Steve Sarrasin; Dr. Danielle Bronk and Paul Pimpinella, Esq., Dr. Christopher and Sarvi Moosavi; Kim and Frank Potter, Jami and Michael Godwin, Alex and Amanda Mazza, Jake and Daney Mazza, and Erik Mazza; and great-grandchildren, Logan Sarrasin, Marlee Anastos, Cameron, and Tate Joseph, Lily, and Tate Pimpinella, Cameron, and Leila Moosavi, Raegan Potter, Ryan Godwin, and Mia Francesca Godwin. She was preceded by her siblings and their spouses, Libby and Rocco Barella, Robert Feldman, CPA and his wife Betty, Manny “Sonny” and Theresa Feldman, and Miriam “Mimi” and Jospeh A. Rubino, Jr. Her memory will also live on in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many special friends from Preswick Glenn. He was additionally preceded by mother-in-law, Maria Antoinette (Arcuri) Mazza. The Mazza family would like to thank the management, staff, and fellow residents of Preswick Glen, a place with such a pleasant atmosphere. Gratitude is also extended to Dr. Naji El Khoury, who was very attentive to Dottie, and to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for walking alongside the family on this journey. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. online at www.hospicecareinc.org/donations; envelopes will also be available at the service. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
