Donna L. (Haggett) Donaldson

NEW HARTFORD - Donna L. (Haggett) Donaldson, age 73, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Orange, New Jersey on August 15, 1946, Donna was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Jean (Wiltrie) Haggett. She was a graduate of Colby Jr. College in 1966. At one time she was married to Henry Donaldson, and to that relationship came the blessing of two children, Audrey J., and William H. Donaldson. Proficient, well respected, and very personable in her professional life, Donna made many enduring friendships that lasted throughout her life. She was employed in the offices of Dr. Ralph Eannace, Duofold Corporation, and the Herkimer Telegram. She then moved on to St. Joseph Nursing Home where she was promoted to Director of Human Resources while concurrently attending the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing graduating in 1992. She was a valued member of the staff at local hospitals as a Registered Nurse, most notably in the ICU at Faxton Hospital. Her career path led to the office of Dr. Christopher Max where she was an integral part of the growth of the practice, a position she deeply cherished. Upon her retirement she joined the staff of U.S. Care Systems, Inc. where she met with new clients and conducted PCA and CNA classes. She completed her dedication to health care with the Oneida County Office for the Aging where she was a valued addition to the staff. She greatly appreciated those she worked with, especially Director Mike Romano who leads the department with values she deeply admired. In both her professional and personal life, Donna was extraordinarily humble and non-judgmental. A compassionate, loving soul, she constantly reached out to others and was that go-to person for friends old and new alike. By nature, and in her vocation, she was passionate in caring for people. She displayed true grit and vigor throughout the challenges in her life, relying on her sense of humor, grace, and profound respect for the joys and blessings that balanced her journey. She was intensely proud of her children for becoming talented and wonderful adults, outstanding professionals, and responsible, caring citizens, deeply committed to family, friends, and the greater good. Her children and grandchildren charmed her heart and nourished her soul. Holidays were made more meaningful when shared with extended family who loved her, including Robin Eannace O’Brien with whom she shared over four decades of friendship, years of holidays, and celebrations of all kinds. The duo brought constant care and service to the community. Life was also well seasoned with shopping therapy brought to greatly heightened levels. She was much loved by the Eannace Family; her godson, Andrew Ullman, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and a sister. Donna is survived by her daughter, Audrey Donaldson, her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sara Donaldson; and grandchildren, Finn and Ella. She also leaves a sister. The family wishes to recognize her special team of caregivers along with special doctors, nurses, and staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center who cared for her during her stay. A Celebration of Donna’s life was held by her family at her favorite oceanside beach in Maine.
