Dominick A. Carlo

Mr. Dominick A. Carlo, age 87, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at the Masonic Care Community of NY where he currently resided. His family was by his side at the time of his passing. Born in Utica on August 26, 1918, Dominick was the son of the late Vincenzo and Mary (Fiore) Carlo. He was raised and educated locally. On March 12, 1938, he was joined in marriage with the former Lucretia Polera, with whom he shared a loving and devoted union of 67 years. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. For many years Mr. Carlo was employed in management analysis at Griffiss Air Force Base. More recently he held a position with McMullen's in Sacramento, CA. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Mr. Carlo is survived by his wife, Lucretia; a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent R. and Mary Jane Carlo of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren, Dominick S. Carlo, Cabrina and Ray Brown, all of Tennessee, Gina and Richard Barnaba, and Vincent R. Carlo II, all of Sarasota; and his great-grandchildren, Marissa Rose Barnaba of Sarasota, and Aaron Brown of Tennessee. His survivors also include a sister, Grace Candella of Marcy; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; his in-laws, Salvatore V. "Sal" Mole of Utica, and Frank Polera of Las Vegas; and his special friend, Nick Cimino of Utica. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony J. and Carmella Carlo; three sisters, Catherine Christino, Antoinette Carlo, and Carrie Mole; and a brother-in-law, Fred Candella. The family offers its sincere gratitude to the caregivers of the Masonic Care Community of NY, especially the personnel of 2 Master Mason Wing and the staff of the Adirondack Raquette Unit for their compassion and dedicated care: it is no wonder that Lucretia thought of them as her personal angels. Thanks also to Dominick's physicians, Dr. Wilcox, Dr. Todd, and Dr. Booth. A very special thank-you is extended to Linda Carlo, Patricia Polera, and Kay DeSantis for their unending love and support. Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 5-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Please omit floral offerings. Mr. Carlo's funeral will commence on Friday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
