Dolores M. (Russo) Dudek

Mrs. Dolores M. (Russo) Dudek, age 76, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Home with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on February 16, 1932, Dolores was the daughter of the late Vincent and Elisa (Papadopoli) Russo. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On April 4, 1969 she married Richard F. “Dick” Dudek with whom she shared 28 years prior to his passing on April 12, 1997; they were a very compatible and loving couple who enjoyed their marriage. Dolores worked as an assembler for the General Electric Co. at the Broad St. location until her retirement. A giving soul, she was always willing to please others and remembered their special days by gifting or being present to the occasion. She was much admired for remembering loved ones who had passed, and caring for the gravesites. She was also a supporter of the Disabled American Veterans in remembrance of her husband. Dolores had a warm sense of humor and a fun-loving personality. She loved to cook and felt it was a way she could show others how much she loved them. As a leisure pastime, she played bingo especially at the Sons of Italy lodge. Dolores is survived by her sister, Theresa Motto; her brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” and Adeline Russo of Utica; her nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging her nieces, MaryAnn and Peter Allen of New Hartford, Elizabeth and Victor Nole of Utica, and Janet and John Cilbrith of Utica; her great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, her sister-in-law, Thelma Russo; and her special friend, Margaret Mariani. She was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Pekala; and her brother, Nicholas Russo. The family offers heartfelt appreciation to the St. Luke’s Home, Clark West for the kindness and concern shown to Dolores while caring for her; and the Regional Cancer Center for their support and encouragement. In keeping with Dolores’ wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Dolores’ honor to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, 323 Genesee St, Utica, NY 13501. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Services of comfort have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
