Mrs. Dolores C. (Pellettieri) Cuda

Mrs. Dolores C. (Pellettieri) Cuda, age 83, of Utica, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on September 29, 1927, Dolores was the daughter of the late Daniel and Angeline (Cella) Pellettieri. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and attended the Utica Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her license as a Registered Nurse in 1948. On June 17, 1950 she married Joseph V. Cuda with whom she shared 61 years supporting each other and sharing life events big and small together. Dolores worked in her nursing profession in local hospitals and also at the Visiting Nurse Association, the position from which she retired. She loved and cherished her family and found happiness in being an important part their lives, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed preparing the family Sunday dinner and tending her flower garden. She saw the beauty in nature and especially enjoyed watching the sunset. Peace and serenity for her were found at the family cottage at the St. Lawrence River. She was a member of several golf and bowling leagues, a dominos club, and the Red Hat Society. She had a long history at St. Agnes Church and more recently was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Joseph V. Cuda; her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Elise Cuda, and Douglas and Pamela Cuda of Oriskany; and her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Will Heater of Syracuse; and her grandchildren, Danielle Cuda, Rebecca Cuda, Emily Cuda; Joseph Cuda, Adriana Cuda; Samantha Heater, and Elizabeth Heater. In addition, she leaves her sisters, Mary Jane Sirianni of Utica, and Evelyn Dunning of Cicero; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Theresa A. Cuda, and many special friends and couples who Dolores held close to her heart. She was predeceased by her niece, Susan House who passed away in 2009; her brothers-in-law, William Dunning, Anthony J. Sirianni and Donald G. Cuda. The family extends sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the 4th floor special care unit at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the attention, compassion, and care given to Dolores. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Dolores’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salerno. Committal prayers will be offered at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel with entombment in Calvary Mausoleum.
