Mrs. Diane M. (Spagnuolo) Aceto

UTICA - Mrs. Diane M. (Spagnuolo) Aceto, age 70, succumbed to her battle with cancer on Sunday, December 10, 2017 when she passed away at the Abraham House with her close friend Faith by her side. Born in Utica on January 17, 1947, Diane was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Grabski) Spagnuolo. She was raised and educated locally and attended the Utica School of Commerce. On August 12, 1972 she married Anthony S. Aceto with whom she shared similar lifestyles and goals for 36 years until his passing on September 14, 2007. Diane worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for several years. She loved the excitement of the Casino and found her way there every chance she could. Some may say that she frequented the machines too much, but she lived her life and lived it her way. It was a lifestyle that made her happy. Diane determined her own direction in life, though many may have disagreed with her decisions. A feline lover, she was the ultimate “cat lady”, lavishing her 5 cats with love, treats, and the best of care. In her younger years, she was a talented seamstress, creating and sewing her own clothes. Her cooking talents were exceptional and Christmas Eve was special for Diane. Her lasagna and apple pie will be missed this holiday. Diane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rocco J. and Cheri Palmer of Indiana; her grandchildren, Rocco, Kaili, Heather, and Stephani; and her sister and brother-in-law, Johanna and Frank Page. She was blessed with the love and care of her friend and landlord, Faith Turczyn, who watched over her with compassion and was looked upon as a daughter. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and special friend, Roy Smith. The family is grateful to the staff of the Abraham House who were attentive and accommodating to Diane’s needs; the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care for tending to Diane with dignity during her final days. The family felt so blessed to have Diane in a sacred place surrounded by such love and compassion. In keeping with Diane’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Diane’s Committal Prayers which will commence on Friday afternoon at 1:30 at Calvary Cemetery Chapel offered by Eannace Funeral Home Life Celebrant, David Ossenfort, followed by Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum.
