Demetria S. "Dutchess" Patterson

ROME, NY - Demetria S. “Dutchess” Patterson, age 44, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Born on July 1, 1977, Demetria was the daughter of Shirley A. and the late Floyd Patterson. Raised and educated in Utica, Demetria was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and went on to attend BOCES vocational school where she received her License as a Registered Nurse. Demetria was a bright, intelligent young woman and a proud veteran of the United States Army where she served her country with honor from 1997-1998. Demetria loved working with people, an attribute that coupled with her competence and compassion made her uniquely qualified for her vocation in the nursing profession. At one time, she was employed by Lutheran Care. Dutchess was feisty, very kind-hearted, sweet, and caring. She had no room for wasting her time and talent on activities that were non-productive. A loving mom and grandmother, she devoted her time to her precious son and granddaughter. Demetria is survived by her parents, Shirley A. Robinson-Newton and her husband Randolph Newton; her son, Drequann F-C Medina; and her granddaughter Xyaida and her mom Shawnte. She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Laverne Robinson, Michael Robinson, Dan Patterson, Oscar Patterson, Booker Patterson, Patricia Patterson, Elizabeth Moyer, Cynthia and Harold Divens, WillieLou Patterson, Patricia Pete, Clynell Gary, Lindy Pete, Tina Pete- Coleman and her husband Tim Coleman, Claudine Linder-Jones, Dina Hudson, and Joyce Cater/Grailing; sisters, Latoya Richardson, Phyllis Gary, and Latoya Hynes; brothers, Rasheen Robinson and Joyce Cortez, and Travis Patterson; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends especially, Catrease Bowens. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Daniel J. Sr. and Willie Lue (Lumpkin) Patterson. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 2:30-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Demetria’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at 4:00 at the funeral home upon conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
