Mr. David Williams

UTICA - Mr. David Williams, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in the comfort and dignity of his home with those he loved most in his heart. Born in Utica on May 22, 1962, David was the son of Queen A. (March) Williams and the late Oscar Williams. Raised and educated locally, he attended Utica Free Academy. At one time, he worked as an employee for a Utica local construction company. Outgoing and sociable, David was the uncle who was admired by his nieces and nephews and spent valuable time with them leaving them with many wonderful memories of good times. He was also a spectator sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed WWE wrestling, not only watching matches on television but also attending live performances at the Utica Aud; this is where he became the fun uncle. He was also known to be a huge fan of football. His sharp sense of humor served him well as a practical joker but was uniquely balanced with being a gentle giant graced with a kind heart, he was also reserved when he chose to have some private time. He enjoyed listening to music of different genres and traveling the country to visit family. One of his most memorable trips was to Louisiana to attend the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. At home, he was a cook in charge of his own kitchen. David and his first cousin Eugene filled each other’s days with friendship and the bonds of family. David was raised by a family who held hope in their heart and he lived life by his own accord and his loved ones will keep him in their memories. David is survived by his mom, Queen; his siblings, William Hamilton, Carrie Johnson, Gladys “Cookie” and Alfred Newton, Sarah Akins, and Amos Williams. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who blessed his life. The family is grateful to the Municipal Housing Authority for the kindness and support shared with David through the years. Due to current health concerns and in keeping with federal and state regulations, the family will honor David’s life.
