Mr. Daniel Steven Scarafile

NEW HARTFORD - Mr. Daniel Steven Scarafile, age 60, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on September 18, 1957, Daniel was the son of the late Daniel and Concetta “Connie” (Ciufo) Scarafile. Raised and educated locally, he furthered his studies at MVCC where he received an Associate degree in Criminal Justice. At one time, he was wed to Deborah Commisso. Dan was employed with the Oneida County Water Pollution Control Division, the position from which he retired after 32 years of service. He was a hardworking, loving, and dedicated father. He was an excellent cook, and was blessed with an uplifting personality, a great sense of humor, and the gift of gab. He loved the outdoors and taught his children many outdoor activities and an appreciation for nature. At one time, he was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The Lord also graced Dan with the gift of art. As a talented artist, he worked mostly in the medium of pen & ink, featuring automobiles and humor sketches. His creative art works were displayed at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. Daniel held close to his heart the memory of his son, Daniel J. Scarafile, Jr. who passed away on September 27, 2016. He is survived by his sons, Michael S. Scarafile, and Nicholas D. Scarafile; his daughter-in-law, Alicia Mecca Scarafile; and his grandson, Daniel J. Scarafile. He also leaves his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and James Hancock, Marguerite and Joseph Spano, and his twin, Donna A. and Norman Jacobson; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph P. and Gail Scarafile; Uncle Angelo and Elizabeth Scarafile; step-brothers and sisters; and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and lifelong friend, Carlo Fanelli. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Rosalie Scarafile; and his special friend, Leo Dovi. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Daniel’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Tom Servatius officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
