Mr. Daniel E. Davis, Sr.

UTICA – Mr. Daniel E. Davis, Sr., age 43, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, with his family by his side. Daniel was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 18, 1979, to Harriet Davis and his late dad William “Billy” Britten. In 1987, Daniel came to Utica with his mom, and their family was welcomed by his Aunt Leola Smith and her family. In his formative years he attended local schools. E supported his community in numerous ways, but was especially proud of being a volunteer at the Johnson Park Food Drives. A spirited man, he was full of life and loved by so many. Indeed, he was a protector, and the glue of the family. Moreover, he was a people person who touched others, a sure presence that assured others they were not alone and would get through their trials. E had a passion for food and cooking, and was known for preparing impromptu gatherings that involved many. He could often be found behind the grill or making his famous fish fry. No one would be left without a heaping plate. In fact, he was a visionary, and he would have wanted to take a business journey that included sharing his passion for food and bringing people together. Music lived in his soul, and when he heard a beat he liked he would just get up and dance—like no one was watching. He had his own style and he will be long remembered. Although all the accolades above were so E, the most powerful advice he gave to his children was to put family first and stick together. As a grandpa, he got to understand the love you can have for your grandchildren. Daniel was of the Muslim belief. E is survived by his mother, Harriet; and his children, Reverend Delvin J. Moody, Nashiem Davis, Demarcus Davis, Daniel E. Davis Jr., and Jikwona Brown; he also raised and loved Crystal Eully. He will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Bryce Alexander Moody, Rumello Adorno, and Raina Pitch. Daniel will be remembered by his siblings, Shanell Felder, Alice Felder, Sharine Davis Chastine, and Timothy Davis. He was preceded by his sister, Darlene Felder, and his brother, David Davis. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, especially his sister/cousin, Chrystal Wright, who he loved dearly. He shared in a union with Natasha Perkins. He was loved by Tiffany Jessamy, with whom he shared a longtime relationship. E had a lifetime of buddies with whom there were many great times, and where they all had each other’s backs. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the physicians and staff at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare, especially in the ICU. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. HIs Final Service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Interment will take place graveside in Forest Hill Cemetery where prayers will be offered for him.
