Cynthia Joan "Cindy" Meenan

UTICA – Cynthia Joan “Cindy” Meenan, age 68, went home to heaven with the angels on Saturday, December 4, 2021, with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Utica on February 2, 1953, Cynthia was the daughter of the late Bernard Meenan Sr. and Nellie H. (Wentworth) Meenan. Cindy held dear the memory of her step-father, Clifford A. Jurkowski. Cynthia was raised in Utica and attended our local city schools. A hard worker, Cindy was known by her co-workers for her dedication to doing things right, and they will always remember her for these wonderful qualities. Additionally, Cindy was very task-oriented, and took pride in tackling each duty that came her way. She was a night owl who enjoyed working night-shifts and could adjust her personal time clock. The first employer to benefit from her work ethic was the legendary Waffle House on Genesee Street. She was involved with this family operation for a considerable time, and more recently could be seen sharing her work dedication as a cashier at the South Utica Price Chopper. Many would remember her as being very personable, and a considerate soul. Her past times included playing bingo with her neighbors, enjoyed the diversion she felt while shopping, or diving into her favorite TV shows, especially the series Law and Order. She was steadfast in tuning in to these favorite shows and ensured that she would be uninterrupted. Cindy is survived by her sisters, Ida Bonanza, and Kathleen and Frank Zammiello; her brothers and sister-in-law, Charles and Lynda Cooper, Bernard H. Meenan, Jr., Kevin Meenan, and Donald H. “Joe” Meenan. Cindy will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her sister-in-law, Haynie Jurkowski; and will be warmly missed by her friends, especially Johnny Lee Reed with whom she shared a special bond. There were many fond memories of her late K-9 companion Tubby, who at a mere 5 pounds was adored by Cindy. She was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Wells; her brother, Clifford A. Jurkowski III; and her in-laws, Kathy Meenan, and Robert A. Bonanza, Sr. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dilip Kachare for his care and compassion. Her loved ones will honor her life in a private gathering.
