Mrs. Cynthia J. "Cindy" (Cole) Getter

UTICA – Mrs. Cynthia J. “Cindy” (Cole) Getter, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Born in Watertown on July 7, 1950, Cynthia was the daughter of the late Ronald J. and Jean (Conley) Cole. She was raised and educated in Carthage. After graduating high school, she continued her studies at Morrisville College, taking food service courses to earn an associate degree. Her degree brought her to the Mohawk Valley for the opportunity to utilize her skills. On August 14, 1982, she was wed to Dennis J. Getter. The couple shared a loving and devoted union of 42 years, which were filled with beautiful memories. Food service was her life. At one time she held a position at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford. She then moved on to Herkimer College where she operated the kitchens and cafeteria. More recently, she was employed with Bank of America, where she was in charge of food service operations. She was well suited for these positions as she loved caring for and serving others. She was always pushing another bite, saying, “Can you eat more?” Cynthia had a wonderful vitality and vivaciousness about her. She was always looking for the next thing to do, especially where her grandchildren were concerned. She loved providing for their adventures and anything they could want. They were her number one priority. Cynthia enjoyed camping with her husband. She even accompanied him fishing, but she would never touch the worms! She delighted in crafting ceramics, especially her mangers. She especially relished the simple times spent with her family, and appreciated the ordinary every day. Cynthia is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis; her stepdaughter and her husband, Cheryl and Matthew Randall; and her grandchildren Bryson, and Alyssa Randall. She was preceded by her triplet granddaughters, Isabella Marie, Emilee Rose, and Madison Jean Randall, who became angels on April 10, 2006. She also leaves her memory to her siblings and their loves, Ella May and Phil Tooly, Frederick V. and Cindy Cole, and James R. and Darci Cole. She fondly remembered her brother Patrick L. Cole, who passed away on April 30, 2017. She is further survived by many adored nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her in-laws, Jerome “Jerry” and Sandy Getter, and James and Kim Getter. She was additionally predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Genevieve (Pontoriero) Getter. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Oneida Center, especially the nurses of the third floor, for their loving care. In keeping with Cynthia’s wishes, there will be no public services. Her family will honor and commemorate her life privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
