Connie L. (Shaw) Canarelli

Mrs. Connie L. (Shaw) Canarelli, age 62, of Whitesboro, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. At the precious moment of her passing, her loving family was by her side. Born in Utica on July 17, 1944, Connie was the daughter of Stella (Kaczor) Shaw and the late John T. Shaw. She was raised and educated in New York Mills. A 1962 graduate of N.Y. Mills High School, she subsequently pursued a vocational career at the Utica School of Beauty Culture. On September 20, 1969, she was joined in marriage to Joseph J. Canarelli, Jr. and shared in an admirable relationship with her husband. She held a position at the Elite Beauty Salon at the South Utica location until her son was born. Connie was a quiet and unassuming woman, but meticulous about her appearance. She was admired for her styled hair and beautifully manicured nails. She had a natural love of the outdoors, and some of her most pleasurable times were spent at her camp on Kayuta Lake especially moments of relaxation by the campfire. Above all, most precious and endearing to her was her family. Connie is survived by her husband, Joe; her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Michelle (Light) Canarelli of Sauquoit; her mother, Stella; and her grandchildren, Josh Light, and Isabella Grace Canarelli. Also surviving is her brother, Terry Shaw of Yorkville; her sister-in-law, Lisa Shaw of Utica; her nieces, including Meghan Shaw, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, including Patricia Jones, Arlene and John Cahill, Christine and Michael Dubiel; her cherished uncle, Chester Kaczor, and her loving aunt, Jane Kaczor; her in-laws, Bob and Winifred Canarelli, Pat and Rachael Canarelli, Frank and Jane Canarelli, Marialana and Mark Tubert, and David and Diane Canarelli. Connie knew the love and friendship of Ro Kirkland, Brenda Hess, and Sharon Burkert. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Joseph J., Sr. and Sarah Canarelli. The family offers sincere appreciation to Dr. Ira Tisch, Dr. Charles Eldredge, Dr. Robert Cheron, Dr. Margarita Perez-Cheron, Dr. Paula Vecchio, Dr. Scott Brehaut, Dr. Joseph Booth, the 4th floor staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, for their outstanding compassion and devotion, the entire attending staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., especially Lara Cook and staff, Albany Medical Center, and Msgr. Adolph Kantor for his prayers and spiritual solace. In keeping with Connie’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Connie’s Memorial Service which will be held on Monday at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be considered to the Fisher House in Albany, NY, a home-away-from-home for families of hospitalized veterans, or to the local chapter of the American Diabetes Assocation; envelopes will be available at the service. It was Connie's desire to be cremated and she will be inurned in her family plot at St. Stanislaus and Casimer Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
