Mrs. Connie Marie (Cannarella) Putrello

Mrs. Connie Marie (Cannarella) Putrello, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on February 15, 1925, Connie Marie was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Francesca (Bertucci) Cannarella. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. She was proud to have worked on war planes at the Griffiss Air Force Base during World War II. On June 14, 1952 she wed Morris “Moe” Putrello with whom she shared a strong marriage and an eternal devotion during their 52 year union. Moe passed away on January 3, 2005. Connie Marie had the career distinction of being the first female Production Supervisor at the Kelsey Hayes Company, from which she retired. As a friend and matriarch, she was very outgoing and had a special way with people. The door to her home was always open and all were welcomed. She was a skilled cook, able to accommodate masses of people with an elaborate feast at a moment’s notice. Connie and Moe worked hard and were proud to be able to provide their family with a summer home at Sylvan Beach where many memorable moments were made over the years. During her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, creating intricate and comfy afghans, holiday decorations, and charming craft items. She was also very competitive in any games she played, especially pitch, often ‘schooling’ those she defeated. She loved to listen to music and had a pride and love for “La Banda Rosa”. But what Connie cherished most in life were her children and grandchildren – they were the brightest stars in her sky. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Connie Marie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Danny Guarno of Utica, and Linda and Mike Saggese of New Hartford; her sons and daughter-in-law, Maurice Putrello, and Patrick and Dena Putrello, of Utica; her grandchildren, Daniel Guarno, his girlfriend, Olivia LaPolla, and twins, Salvatore Guarno and Vincent Guarno; Byron Saggese, Isabella Saggese, and Bianca Saggese; Chris Putrello, Jessica and Jimi Riggio, Taylor Murphy-Putrello; Ryan and Colleen Putrello, Ciara and David Parrish, and Eric Putrello and fiancée Kirstie Schmalz; and her great-grandchildren, Jaydon, Kayden, Astoria, Caitlin, Connor, Nina, and Dante. Her extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Margaret and Joseph Montanaro, Fanny George, Joseph and Benita “Sue” Putrello, and Pasquale Putrello. She was predeceased by her twin sister and her brother-in-law, Rachael and Salvatore Aiello; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Frances Cannarella; her niece, Christina Rothdiener; and her in-laws, Dominick Putrello, James Putrello, Rosina Petruello, Maria Petruello, and Bill George. The family is grateful to the staff of the Masonic Care Community of NY for the care and compassion rendered to Connie Marie during her stay. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Connie Marie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
