Mrs. Concetta G. "Connie" (Greco) Siringo

Mrs. Concetta G. “Connie” (Greco) Siringo, age 91, most recently of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015. Born in Utica on July 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Fortunato and Francesca (Scalzo) Greco. Connie received her education in local schools. June 16, 1948 marked a special day in the lives of Connie and Carmen A. Siringo, for this is when they began a journey of 40 years of marriage. Their togetherness and regard for family life, along with mutual respect proved to be a blessing that lasted Connie a lifetime; her beloved Carmen passed away on January 4, 1989. A mother and dutiful homemaker, she spent each day with the needs of her family being paramount. She also afforded herself employment at the former Woolworth’s, and Utica College. Connie found much entertainment from reading. For many years she and her husband were devoted parishioners of the former St. Agnes Church where they were very active in the bazaars, and she was a member of the Mother’s Club. Upon moving to her new home, she then practiced her faith at Historic Old St. John’s Church Downtown. Connie is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Steve Scalione of Punta Gorda, FL with whom she resided. Also left to remember her are her grandchildren, Stephen C. Scalione and Reva Holcombe of Siesta Key, FL, Danielle and Andrew Sharp of Washington DC, and Nicholas Scalione and fiancée Audrey O’Connor of Buffalo. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, as well as a lifetime of friends. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Louis Siciliano; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Grace Greco; her in-laws, Eugene and Loretta Siringo, Mary and Felix Raimondo, Carmela and Alexander Forte; and her nephew, Vincent A. Siringo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 11-12 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions may be considered to Historic Old St. John’s Church, or a charity of choice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Connie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler. Interment will take place alongside her husband in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
