Clara D. (Guzskie) Hart

Mrs. Clara D.(Guzskie) Hart, age 88, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Born in Utica on November 18, 1920, Clara was the daughter of the late William and Viola (Helchowski) Guzskie. She was raised and educated locally. In 1941 in Utica, she married John E. Hart with whom she shared 33 years in a blessed union prior to his passing on September 13, 1974. Clara’s home was her palace and she meticulously cared for it. A strong-minded and caring woman, her life was centered around her family, and she truly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family socialization throughout the years and was generous with her time and friendships. Graced with a green thumb, her springtime interests included gardening and attending to her spectacular array of flowers that surrounded her home and porch. For many years, Clara served as a committee woman for the Republican party. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a longtime parishioner of the parishes of St. Francis De Sales and St. Mary’s on South St. She held an admiration for angels and took pleasure in collecting them. Clara is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, David M., Sr. and Antoinette Hart, and Doug Hart, all of Utica; her grandchildren, David, Jr. and Linda Hart, Michael and Leslie Hart, and Donna M. and Rob Lynn; and her great-grandchildren, Josh, Robbie, David, Rachael, Ryan, Rylee, Matthew, and Jacob. Survivors also include her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Jeanette Guzski of Pickens, SC; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She also leaves her friends, Ellen Grosjean, DeeDee, her hairdresser, who took care of Clara throughout the years, and all her friends at the salon. She was predeceased by her five brothers and a sister. The family offers heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kevin McCormick and his staff, and Kimberly Taylor, RN of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center ICU for their care and attention. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Clara’s funeral service will commence on Thursday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mark's Church on Keyes Rd. where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton at the convenience of the family.
