Christina "Tina" (Salerno) Morrison

Mrs. Christina “Tina” (Salerno) Jasinski Morrison, formerly of Westmoreland, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Heritage Health Care Center with the love and support of her family. She was born in Utica, the daughter of the late Joseph and Erma (Bovee) Salerno. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On February 3, 1951 she married Walter Jasinski who passed away on March 14, 1963; they were a loving and dedicated couple who shared in the blessings of two children who made their marriage a source of unity and pride. She was graced with a second union when she met Daniel “Dan” Morrison, a good man with whom she shared a true friendship that grew into a loving relationship. In 1974 Tina and Dan married and knew the respect of each other’s families and truly blended them together during their 33 year marriage. Tina was employed by Hamilton College for 25 years. She was looked upon as being meticulous, hard-working, and dependable at her job. Her heartfelt happiness in life was found in making her relationships and family her first concern and holding a special love and place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Numerous years ago the camp at White Lake was a place she truly enjoyed to gather with family, which have filled her heart with lasting memories throughout the years. As always, Tina gravitated to those in need, and her mindset was to share her generous spirit. She was a motivator and a charitable person with her time and talents. An energetic woman, she was in touch with physical fitness and enjoyed walking, and dancing, particularly the polka which she had mastered. She was a member of the Clark Mills VFW Auxiliary and was proud to have marched in their many parades. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Tina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and David Williams of Pinson, Alabama; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Barbara Jasinski of Liverpool; grandchildren, Shawn Lee and John Evans, Heather and Robert Vandiver all of AL, and Nicole Jasinski of Liverpool; her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jarred, and AnnaLee; her step-children, Dianne and Cliff Engling, Tim Morrison, Douglas and Catherine Morrison, and David and Nancy Morrison; her 7 step-grandchildren; and her 3 step-great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves her devoted sisters, Stella Smith, and Antoinette “Toni” Garguilo, both of Whitesboro; her brother and sisters-in-law, Pasquale “Pat” and Rosemary Salerno of Ft. Edward, NY, and Vita Salerno of North Utica; many nieces, including her special niece, Annette Delahunt, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a sister-in-law, Stella Gibbs and her children Lauren Harvey, and Karen Gibbs. Tina has known the friendship and love of Richard Warmuth, Mary Paratore and Frank Paratore. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph J. Salerno in 1998; her infant sister, Irene Salerno; and her brothers-in-law, John Smith, Ellsworth Garguilo, Fred Gibbs, Edward “Maxie” Jasinski, and Stanley Jasinski. The family would like to thank Dr. Mathew Ulahannan, and Dr. Sultana Razia for the time and concern they personally shared with Christina; the Heritage Health Care Center staff was outstanding, personable, and compassionate in their care. Her children would also like to thank Tina’s sisters, Stella and Toni, who were so kind and devoted to their sister. Tina’s family will gather at a private time to honor and commemorate her life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday morning at 9:30 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. Felix Colosimo. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
