Mr. Christian M. "Chris" Abraham

UTICA – Mr. Christian M. “Chris” Abraham, age 57, passed away in the comfort and dignity of his home on Friday, May 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with chronic illness. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Utica on March 3, 1968, Christian was the son of William “Bill” Abraham and the late Angela F. (Scampone) Minicone. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1986 and furthered his education at Palm Beach State College. On August 1, 1998, Chris married his high school sweetheart, the former Janine Mazzei. The couple shared in a loving and devoted union of over 26 years. At one time Chris held a position in the Asbestos Removal field as a technician. More recently, he held a position for many years at Crash’s Scrap Metals, which later became Sims Metal Management. Chris’s family was the center of his life. He was a loving husband and a devoted father. With his generous heart and warm personality, Chris formed many lasting friendships over the years—people were naturally drawn to him. He had a thirst for knowledge and a profound respect and love for nature and animals. Chris had a tremendous passion for music of all genres, especially the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, often visiting the Salmon River and Delta Lake. He cherished traveling with his family to Florida to spend quality time by the ocean together. Chris was a parishioner of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate to know him. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Janine; beloved children, Alexandria L. Abraham and fiancé Jesse Catalina, and Marc A. Abraham; father, William “Bill” Abraham; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Anita Abraham; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Kelly and Victor Castronovo, and Lizabeth and Chris Owen. He fondly remembered his brother, Derek A. Abraham, who preceded him on September 5, 2009. He is additionally survived by his nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as “the cool uncle,” Amanda Abraham, Zachary Abraham; Victor Castronovo III, Vito Castronovo, Vincenzo Castronovo; Michael Mazzei, Jr., and Salvatore Mazzei; many cousins, especially Gregory “Cuz” Romano; father-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Mazzei (the late Rosalinda Mazzei); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Lisa Mazzei; and a host of special friends, including Ricky and Kathy Mendez, Chris Trinco, Ron Moccaldi, Bill Graham, Kevin Todd, Mike Faga, and many others too numerous to mention. The Abraham family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alicia DeTraglia, her nurse practitioner Stacey Jaskolka, and the entire oncology staff at the Regional Cancer Center for their exceptional care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Christian’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave.
