Mr. Charles F. "Charlie" Grieco Sr.

UTICA - Mr. Charles F. “Charlie” Grieco, Sr., age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in the privacy of his home. Born in Utica on August 15, 1953, Charles was the son of the late Francis and Theresa Marie (Laino) Grieco. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Later on in life, Charlie found his soul mate, best friend, and loving wife, Barbara VanDish-Grieco. During their longtime union, they shared their love and happiness until Barb’s passing on December 28, 2015. Charlie began his working career with a tool box, a pickup truck, and an excellent work ethic. His reputation increased and his company became a symbol of quality, value, and integrity. He was a natural entrepreneur, intelligent, honest, and blessed with business savvy. Over the years, he built up a clientele of repeat patrons. He was a master of his craft and he taught his sons at an early age the skills needed to succeed as they worked alongside their dad. Charlie was a caring patriarch and a good provider for his children. He was smart and stern, as well as gracious and generous of heart. He found happiness in helping others and strived to achieve perfection in every job and every endeavor. During his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting, —- activities that active outdoorsmen pursue! Charlie is survived by his children and their loved ones, Lisa and Bob Dow, Charles F. Grieco Jr., Lori Grieco, Sherry Grieco, and Anthony Grieco; his grandchildren, Noah Dow; Brandon Mikolainis; Cameron Keehn, and Timothy W. Noel; and his sisters and brother-in-law, Catherine “Cathy” Grieco, and Mary and Ron Merritt. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, Jason Grieco, Tina Merritt, Ron Merritt Jr.; and their families; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Griffith, and Joanne and Joseph Boardman and their families; and several close friends with special mention of Alan and Helen LaMore, Dennis Rahausier, and the late John Murray. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Grieco. A Memorial Gathering and Service of Remembrance celebrating the life of Charles and Barbara Grieco will be held Friday, July 13 from 4:00 – 6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. with a Service of Remembrance at 6:00 with Pastor David Ossenfort officiating the ceremony.
