Charla Santita Spight

UTICA - Charla Santita Spight, age 51, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare with her loved ones at her side. Born in Caruthersville, Missouri on October 31, 1968, Charla was the daughter of Charles Wright and the late JoAnn Ricks. She also knew the love of her step-father, Gary Green, Sr. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and went on to MVCC where she earned her License as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). At one time, she was employed as a CNA in the Home Health Care system, and she also tutored other healthcare workers. A loving, caring person, Charla was optimistic and encouraging even on a bad day. She loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family, especially spending time with the grandbabies. She also enjoyed a great meal. As a big sister, she was a provider and a protector for her siblings, and her children, as well. She was the “Queen Bee” of shopping, loved getting her hair and nails done, and enjoyed music. And, sometimes, she loved talking Sh** ! She was a “handy woman” and was skilled in many ways. Charla is survived by her daughters, Kayla Jackson, and Kia Watford; her father, Charles Wright; her step-father, Gary Green Sr.; sons and daughter-in-law, DaiQuan and Lateisha Spight, Dominique Spight, Gerald Ricks, and Ojolique Ricks Sr.; grandchildren, Cyn’Niah Spight, Jeremiah Wright, Calogerol Torchia, Malachi Spight, Jai’vaun Spight, Maliva Spight, Enjoli Spight, Ladaia Spight, Aiden Spight, Noah Spight, Dommariah Spight, unborn Baby Spight, Gerald Ricks Jr., Niamiah Ricks, Adeil Ricks, Omari Ricks, and Ojolique Ricks Jr.; sisters, Felecia Ricks and Christopher Hewitt, Bernadette Green, Patricia Green, Wanda Green, Celeste Freeman, Yvette Green, and Evon Green; and brothers, Danny Ricks, and Gary Green Jr. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, including special cousin, Ricky Spight; in-laws, and friends, Glenn Sackey, and Juan Lincoln. She was predeceased by her mother, JoAnn Ricks, Lillian Spight, Eissie Hadon,Vance Spight, Jerry Jones, Terry Jones, Sherri Jones, Grandpa Dixon, and Ms. Helen. Due to current health concerns and in keeping with federal and state regulations, the family will honor Charla’s life privately. Her Celebration of Life and Home Going service will be held with immediate family only.
