Mrs. Celeste J. Giudice

Mrs. Celeste J. (Marks) Giudice, age 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday November 29, while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Utica on December 17, 1932, Celeste was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (DeMarco) Marks. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. At one time, she was wed to Kenneth P. Zanio and from that union came the blessing of 3 children. She was blessed with a second union when she married Frank M. Giudice on March 15, 1980; the couple shared their life and love for 35 years. A beautician by vocation, Celeste owned and operated the Guys & Dolls Hair Salon, one of the first unisex salons in the area, located initially on Coventry Avenue and later relocated to Bleecker Street. A loving, giving woman, Celeste would give you the shirt off her back, always placing the needs of others before her own. She provided a loving atmosphere in her home, and her family always knew the priceless gift they had in her. Celeste loved people and was the ‘belle of the ball’ at family gatherings. Besides being intelligent and witty, Celeste was gifted with a beautiful singing voice, never afraid to let her talent shine at any event when the opportunity presented itself. During her leisure time she enjoyed bingo and games of chance at the casino, and God forbid she should miss a Yankee’s game. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where she volunteered at various events. Celeste is survived by her husband, Frank; her daughters and son-in-law, Joyce A. Zanio of Fort Mill, SC, and Deborah J. and John Sullivan of Utica; her son, Kenneth P. Zanio of Rock Hill, SC; her grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Nana: Jaime A. Sweet and fiance Anthony Migliaccio of Frankfort, Korie J. Kennett and fiance Scott Gaumer of Westmoreland; Christopher O. Bussonnais and Jessica Newberry of Whitesboro, and Morgan C. and Michael Hogue of CA; and her great-grandchildren, Cory Miller; Jaxton Gaumer; Christopher O. Bussonnais II and his mother Jennifer DeFazio; and Aurora C. Hogue. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, John and Elena Sammons of FL; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law, Antoinette MacKenzie of MD, and Santa Romanowski. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Maria C. and Joseph Cariglio. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Celeste’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 11:30 from the funeral home and at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Richard Dellos. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
