Miss Catherine M. "Aunt Kay" Loreti

UTICA – Miss Catherine M. “Aunt Kay” Loreti, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by the love and support of her nieces and nephews by her side. Born in Utica on February 1, 1922, Catherine was the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Massago) Loreti. She attended local schools. At one time, Catherine held a position at Tri-State Industrial Laundry. Catherine was a loving and caring individual. She lived through her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, becoming their biggest advocate. Her family was always her main focus. In her younger years, she devotedly cared for her mother and father. Later, she immensely enjoyed her roles as aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt. A woman of faith, she was a parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus. She looked forward to her trips to the Auriesville Shrine of the North American Martyrs. During Catherine’s lifetime, she fondly remembered her brothers, Anthony J., and Peter Loreti, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary R. and Joseph F. Romeo. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Jo and James Toomey, Sr., Teresa Bankert (the late Dale Bankert), Teresa and Michael Doyle, Frank Loreti, and Camille and Paul Browne; great-nieces and great-nephews, James and Holly Toomey, Jr., Christopher Brown (the late Lisa Brown), Lauren and Rich Mones, Amanda and Michael Recor, and Michael and Sara Doyle; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Trent, and Todd Toomey; Jasmine, and Janelle Brown; Avery, and Ryker Mones; and Alivia, and Emerie Recor; cherished cousins, Angela and Rick Norman and their family in California, with whom she shared a lifelong relationship; and her sister-in-law, Antonietta Loreti. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Magnolia House of the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center for their care and compassion, especially acknowledging Connie and Alice. Catherine’s family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Catherine’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
