Ms. Catherine A. Longo

UTICA – Ms. Catherine A. Longo, age 63, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Utica on July 24, 1961, Catherine was the daughter of the late John D. Sr. and Mary A. (Castelli) Longo. Raised in the area, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. Soon after high school, Catherine took a job at Northern Safety; however, it was her time spent working on her brother Rocky’s farm that truly brought her joy, and highlighted the strong bond they shared. Catherine was a devoted mother to her three children and their loves, Anthony “Tony” Pullman, Audra Pullman and Matt Scalzo, and Kyle Pullman, as well as to her daughter-in-law, Melissa DeBiase, along with Melissa’s children, Julianna, and Genero Clemente, whom she adored like her own grandchildren. She also enjoyed many treasured years spent with her partner, Gary Miner. Catherine had a remarkable ability to connect with others through her warmth and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of everyone she encountered. Her kindness radiated in every interaction, making people feel valued and understood. Always selfless, she prioritized the needs of others, sometimes to the detriment of her own well-being. Her generosity knew no bounds, always willing to offer help or comfort to others, no matter the circumstance. The void created by her absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Movies were one of Catherine’s great loves, and she had a special fondness for horror films. She relished the thrill of a good scare and took pride in her extensive collection, which included classics, modern blockbusters, and hidden gems alike. Music was also deeply entwined with her heart, and dancing brought her immense joy and solace in times of need. Catherine was deeply loved and will be cherished in memory by her family. She is survived by her devoted siblings and their spouses, Donna Lee and Joseph Rivett, John D., Jr. and Nancy Longo, Michael and Elaine Longo, Ronald and Tammy Longo, and Salvatore “Salvie” and Kathie Longo; many nieces and nephews and their families; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Longo. Catherine’s beloved pets, whom she treated like her own children, will also miss her dearly. Her nurturing spirit extended to them, providing a home filled with affection, joy, and comfort. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony “Butch” Longo (1973), Daniel Longo (1976), and Rocco J. “Rocky” Longo (2006), who held a special place in her heart. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Utica Fire Department, Utica Police Department, and the nursing staff at Wynn Hospital for their swift response. Please know that your efforts will always be remembered. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Catherine’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place in Frankfort Center Cemetery. This tribute to Catherine’s life was lovingly written by her family.
