Mrs. Catherine (Ventura) Daviau

NEW HARTFORD- Mrs. Catherine (Ventura) Daviau, age 64, went home to be with the Lord and her mother when she passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, with her husband and family by her side. Catherine was born on September 3, 1958, to Ercole Ventura and the late Patricia Anne (Spatuzzi) Ventura. She attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Grammar School and was a 1976 graduate of New Hartford High School. She later furthered her education by attending Utica School of Commerce, where she graduated with honors with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. On July 26, 2003, Catherine married Daniel S. Daviau. They were a uniquely close couple; they loved one another and grew to be best friends. Catherine was employed at H&R Block as a tax preparer, and most recently for the State of New York Department of Transportation reconciling registrations. Catherine was a survivor of many obstacles and health issues in her life. She had a personality that was very engaging and she was especially kind. She was very socially aware and conscientious of others’ needs. She always spoke her mind and was a bit forthcoming. She was a devoted wife; she and her husband felt blessed to have each other. The NY Yankees were her team, and she and Daniel had an affinity for watching the games together. She became very knowledgeable of the rules of the sport, and Mike Messina was one of her favorite players. They watched the games with devotion. Catherine and Daniel were each other’s yin and yang. Some of Catherine’s hobbies included sewing and crocheting. She was very proud of having graduated Business School and of her working career. She had a flare for cooking, especially Italian cuisine. Catherine believed in the Lord, and she credited her own kindness to her family background. Catherine is survived by her husband, Daniel; and her father, Ercole Ventura. She is also survived by her siblings, Cyndi LaMunion, Debra and Michael Lynch, Diane Knight, Riccardo “Rick” and Audrey Ventura, Carlene Ventura, and Sean Ventura. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; many aunts and uncles, especially appreciating the devotion of Tosca and Warren Meola to the entire family; and her in-laws. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Jeanette (Clark) Daviau; and her nephew, Joseph R. Ventura. Daniel and Catherine’s family were touched by the exceptional compassionate care of the nurses and staff of the ICU of MVHS St. Elizabeth’s Campus. Through the years Dr. Roger Breslow was her longtime physician and friend. A Memorial Gathering in Catherine’s honor will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. A prayer service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
